DNP Stain Remover

i dont remember which one of the 8,000 DNP FAQ's i read it in, but one of them claimed that there is a certain chemical in a few liquid detergents that is capable of removing DNP from the skin as well as most fabrics. havent had the pleasure of testing any DNP yet (getting my first 100 gram batch in this friday :woohoo:, so i cant say from experience if its true, but the article used Tide brand detergent as an example of a product that had the DNP killing chemical in it.

worth a try if what is stained means a lot to you... though im sure how long it has had to set will probably be the strongest variable
 
As far as detergents go, Tide worked the best in my experience, but of course you always have some substances that you just can't get DNP out of. It came out of towels just fine, but thin fabrics like t-shirts didn't fare so well.

LOL -- just buggin you, I know diddly about DNP (not something I want to use).
 
I wonder how they synthesize dinitrophenol. I remember my organic professor saying that adding the first NO2 to the benzene ring is the most difficult reaction (requires the most activation energy) but then each additional addition is much, much easier. This was speaking of making DNT or TNT - not the phenol. I'm just not sure the effect of the OH on the benzene ring has on the ability to stop at 2 NO2 additions rather than 3 (which I imagine would be fairly explosive).

I've had no trouble getting DNP out of laundry, but it'll never come out of carpet. It comes off my hands after a day or two.

Now you all know why I sig line was formerly, "Typing with yellow dye-stained hands."
