Question What did the old timers use before Nolva/Clomid?

I was reading an article (I forget where) and it stated that the BB'ers of old ala Schwarzenegger and Mentzer, et al.never used Clomid or Nolva or anything else to reduce estrogen because these substances weren't even available yet. None of these guys appeared to have gyno. What is it that we are doing, or not doing, that makes PCT necessary? Or better yet, what were THEY doing to control estrogen and bring back natty test???

They would often rely on old school weak anti estrogen compounds like Chrysin, DIM or vitamin B6. I also tend to think they kept their dosing quite a bit lower than modern BBers and many liek Arnold, used under the care of a physician as it was legal.

Many of the old school BBers are rumored to have had gyno surgery.

We use PCT as insurance. It insures we keep more of the LBM gained during the cycle, helps reduce the chances of gyno or worse, permanent damage to our endocrine systems. PCT is not perfect, one can skip it and get away with it once in while...but why risk it if you don't have to?

A guy I work with that is in his late 30's/early 40's (still in great shape) mentioned he took 2 cycles of Winstrol in the mid-80's leading up to a competition. I asked what he took coming off.

His answer - "nothing. What do you mean coming off?"

After I explained PCT today, he said neither he nor his buddies knew anything about that, and one of his buddies was getting the Winstrol from a doctor.

    I found it very interesting.

i believe it, at the time they were merely experimenting - steroids were legal and were regarded as 'super vitamins'. Boy how times have changed. With the knowledge and research availible today - steroid use is made safer than ever. Yet the crusade against steroids (led by McCain and Biden) is at an all-time climax.

Certainly the guy you spoke to has been dead for years?
Or prehaps his formerly-anabolic soul roams the earth in ghost form and has somehow contacted you to tell you about the dangers of steroids.

my point is, he should be dead says the media!

CED - Totally agree. From what he told me, he should have the following: no dick, certainly no balls, a heart the size of Rhode Island, had 3 heart attacks, killed 17 folks and attacked me after he told me this.

I know, the media (and non-educated public)'s opinion of steroids is completly retarded. I once saw a Doc (supposedly) say that he's seen 2 patients (N=2) where they had an enlarged heart, so "steroids must enlarge your heart to damn near Biblical proportions."
