Ethanol (Everclear) instead of HEET?

Is this ok? I read in another thread that guys were having success with isopropyl.

Oh, and another question. I have 2 carts of fina-h and 2 carts of syno-h and I want to turn them into their respective bases. Can I do both fina and syno at the same time using the alcohol and lye method?

I've seen it done. Ethanol is fine, but filter Everclear though a dessicant like dry MgSO4 fist because water hurts this reaction.
