The couple solo logs I've read added maybe a couple lbs while slightly improving body composition, and strength went up slightly (they were recomping really).
If you eat lots of carbs you'll add lbs of glycogen/water but that's about it - better for strength athletes maintaining weight or bodybuilders looking to preserve strength and lean mass while cutting. I've also heard there is a significant hardening effect when bf is low enough to notice, and vascularity is strong. Good aggression in the gym.
