steroid use and heart disease

I understand steroids can mess with your blood cholesterol levels, and it would appear that years and years of use may open the door for cardiovascular disease in certain individuals.

You cannot prove cause and effect, but there are a handful of pro wrestlers who died in their 30's from heart failure. There are bodybuilders who have either died or have sufered heart attacks.

My question is, do you think these guys were simply on steroids almost all the time instead of doing cycles?

I don't know if being "always on" is even done in practice, but if it is, wouldn't that be more of a factor contributing to health problems than the steroids themselves?

Most pro wrestlers used/use a lot of rec drugs too...

30 year-olds that aren't on anything drop dead sometimes....

If they found some T and a needle in his underwear drawer, well now its news! Maybe even a case report on the association between steroids and heart disease.

Like everything, just keep it in moderation, just in case.

2 athletes from my highschool had heartattacks and they were not on gear. Now if you combine gear, lack of supporting supplements, stimulants (crack, meth) and alcohol you can work your way up to a heart attack easily by 30, which I wouldnt be surprised if wrestlers do these.

It isnt as clear of a picture as many make it seem to be. I am more inclined to believe that responsible AAS use actually has very little impact on CVD risk

I think its more the stims like clen and ephedrine etc....maybe GH can help to enlarge the heart as well, some of the harsher steroid substances can't help either....a lot of it has to due with genetic predisposition in my opinion....the stims or rec drugs or roids etc just exacerbate the problem.

While it more or less comes from the lifestyle and prolific prolonged use of these substances, its illogical to claim they played no part in their deaths.

I personally believe that straight test and some of the milder anabolics when used responsibly can be safe, however more often than not they are abused. I would love to see more recognition of thier use in anti aging medicine but see thier abuse as the greatest obstacle.
