4 month groin injury. Getting desperate

Hello all. I was diagnosed with a groin strain 4 months ago and today I just went in for my 2nd checkup and the pain is still very much there. I ice all the time and my physical activity has been very limited. I own a personal training company in the Bay Area so my ability to be completely sedentary isn't really there. We checked for hernias and nothing is present. I feel I may have a sports hernia but Kasier (health insurance/hospital) won't consider that as a possibility.

I just placed an order for Cissus and was wondering what else might be an aide. I have ran oral ph's in the past and am considering running one during this injury if it would increase my recovery rate. ANY suggestions would be very, very much appreciated. I've dropped near 15lbs of lbm and this lack of physical activity is definitely taking it's toll on me mentally, as well.

sorry if this was posted in the wrong area. if so i will move it.

Please tell me a bit more. I M a gi surgeon also speciAlising in hernia and groin pain.

Was the lack of hernia diagnosed
clinically or by imaging. Ultrasound is usually used but may produce a false neg depending pasrticularly on operator experience.

An MRI may show definite inflammation in the groin apparatus. This would be a true " straight " and could be treated by injection of anti I flammatories to speed things along.

If these are Neg and the pain not better after a reasonable period (4 months is reasonable) I do a laparoscopy looking for a sportsmans hernia and fixing it if found. There is no doubt this is a real entity and there are good studies to support surgery in reducing pain.

    Hope that helps

First off, thank you for your time. I was looked at 5/29/09 (some time after my injury) and the doctor found no visible hernia. Just today I returned to the doctor and he manually checked for an inguinal hernia with no success. No other tests have been conducted. I have iced it consistently and used the 600mg ibuprofen nsaids every 6hrs as told. I can go through full hip flexion without much pain but any weight-bearing activities give me a dull, almost warm pain. If I do not stop what I am doing I will later on feel a burning, aching pain all around my groin and it will sometimes go to my adductors, as well. Time to time I will experience testicular discomfort. I've yet to resume any real physical activity and I was in outstanding shape before this injury--I would have thought that I would have shown better improvement than this.

Sorry been laid low with viral meningitis!

Sounds like a musculoskeletal injury more than an occult hernia, but symptoms and signs can be misleading.

In this situation I would get an ultrasound done by someone experienced in this area. Whilst not 100% accurate no hernia seen would be reassuring. Also some inflammatory probs can be seen on uss.

You could also try a topical non steroidal gel such as naproxen or ibuprofen. I have had some success with these.
