BOISE STATE FOR NATIONAL CHAMPION!!!

as much as i hate to say this, congrats to the gators. they outplayed the bucks in every possible aspect of the game. i knew myer was a great coach after seeing what he did with utah but i thought tressel was just as good. wow, this was disproved tonight. good job florida, no one can create controversy now since they definitely deserve the title of national champs. hopefully, we'll be back next year with a better showing in the bowl game.

EDIT: its become a trend that the underdog wins this game. 4 out of the last 5 were underdogs. OSU in '02, LSU in '03, texas in '05, and now florida.

How far does this drop Smith in the first round? Seriously.
First good D with real speed he faces - and has this performance.
[quote]

Michigan's D was pretty damn good, but nonetheless after tonight I am all for revoking Troy's heisman. Bring back Zwick!

In all seriousness, OSU's line was off and florida's dline is very fast and very good.

I gotta give the Gates credit for knowing when to get rid of a bad coach.
Canes beat the Gators in the '05 Peach - they do the right thing and get rid of a sorry-azz coach (Zook - but damn good recruiter as Meyer will tell ya....) - and we give Coker an EXTENSION.

Maybe I should be mad at the athletic director instead of Coker...
Anyway - I can't help but wonder what was.

Congrats Gators - you guys showed what a good coach can do against the Bucks.
See ya in '08 in the Swamp.

Florida has a new recruit coming next year from around my area named joe haden, I read kid is like 5'10 190 but supposedly runs a 4.3 and benches like 380. Played qb but they are moving him to a receiver/ATH, might be like having two Harvins out there...just the thought of that gives me (and jim tressel) nightmares

Nope.

I think they'll be scary with a REAL running back and Meyer's type of QB.
Think about it - they really don't have a spread option guy at QB (that's supposed to be Teebow) nor a true RB.

I'm hoping Craig Cooper (a burner at RB from Memphis) sticks with Miami - he'd be DEADLY on that offense.

Speaking of Urban - I'm seriously wondering if he takes a job with the NFL now. Seriously.

Yeah, they definitely could use a more consistent running game. To be honest, I haven't been real impressed with tebow, although the gameplan they use only shows one dimension of his game.

I *think* that they lose ALOT of starters on D. Maybe 8 or 9.
Looking at the Bucks tonight - that's not a certainty that you can compete the next year with those kind of losses.

did you guys see leak and myers and the post game press conference? they are real stand up guys and very humble! makes me feel a little easier about them winning. im thinking troy smith needs another year in college before entering the draft after that performance but his time is up. ginn being hurt really allowed them to cue in on smith and he choked(more importantly, the O-line choked) under floridas speed defense.

Well I guess the billion of times you hear the TV announcers say you have to establish the run game before you go to the pass can go suck and egg

yeah, gonzales and robiskie are both solid receivers, but when you need 3 or 4 scores in a quarter or two, you need a home run threat, which they lost when ginn went down, and a big play on special teams or d, which OSU didn't even come close to having.
1st Downs 24 6
Total Yards 372 82
Passing 213 35
Rushing 159 47
Penalties 6-50 5-50
3rd Down Conversions 10-19 1-9
4th Down Conversions 2-2 0-1
Turnovers 0 2

There's the stats for the night, you can probably tell which one is which...florida 10-19 on 3rd and down, a bunch of which were long too, where as ohio state is 1-9. That tells a lot of the story right there. along with the 82 total yards for OSU. Just an ugly game

On offense - I'm honestly not sure whom had the worst bowl game of the last 2 years - you guys tonight w/ 82 total yards and one TD or Miami last year against LSU - not more than 100 yards and only a field goal.

For that matter - which QB was worse? Troy or Kyle "Takes a Sack Machine" Wright????

I agree man, if UF played OSU a week after the SEC championship the reults of the game would of been much different. However this is never the case and never will be.

I thought OSU's play calling sucked. I'm a defensive minded person and i was really expected them to do some zone blitzes and diguise their coverages. They played a soft zone and UF's speed receivers ran across the middle and just sat down in holes in the zones. UF's play calling was exactly how i expected it to be and i was very happy with it. This game was won in the trenches, UF's weak point, our o-line really stepped up...of course it's easy to step up when OSU is only rushing 3 men half the game.
