As I checked in on espn.com today I noticed something great for all FSU fans. Tyrone Moss, Ryan Moore and two other 'Canes are suspended for the FSU vs UM game. Along with the FAMU game for those FAMU fans out there. So hopefully FSU can take advantage of this, even tho Moore has always been overrated IMO.

Yeah - saw that. Apparently 2 were for grades from internet rumors. No clue on the other 2.

Here's my analysis.
James Bryant would have played on special teams only.
Ryan Moore - hit of miss after 2003. But, we are very, very thin at WR. So thin, that they've resorted to calling Jmh80 out of flag football retirement to come play 3rd string WR.
Ty Moss isn't 100% - won't be till October I'm betting. I think Charlie Jones would have ended up with most of the carries anway.
Rashaun Jones - special teams.

Moore is the biggest loss - only because we suck at WR.

The bigger issue to me is the circus atmosphere we've had this offseason. Safety shot in the ass, these kids suspended, Willie Wililams holding the team hostage, aunt slaps linebacker at Canes Fest (I'm serious), backup QB calling a press conference to announce he's not transferring.
Round and round we go - where it stops no one knows!

So, either this is a major, major distration that carries itself through the season and we lose like 4 games.
Or - this somehow motivates them because everyone will be down on them against FSU (see Virginia Tech in 2005) and they go undefeated/have one loss. I'm not sure I see anything in the middle.

Geez - I was so ready for the season to start - way to deflate the sails guys.

Yeah UM has had a crazy off season. What I dont get is how no one made a big deal with Merriweather pulling his gun and shooting. Now they said he has and used it legally, which I honestly think is fine, but usually you would have heard something about him owning a gun. I personally dont have a problem, just surprised the press didnt come up with some bs on why he was wrong. But yeah, hopefully this lets UM down

Merriweather was right to shoot back at the guy. If he didn't - the 3 players would be dead right now.

I'm not going to pass judgement as to why he had a gun. It's our right in this country to own one. Apparently it's not a bad neighborhood - so those guys must have been after them because they are football players.

Yeah - first time in HISTORY we weren't skewered by everyone for something/anything.

Yet, Gator players shoot AK-47's off in G'ville and not a peep is heard outside of G'ville.

BTW - don't think I haven't forgotten that Sims and Nicholson were arrested last year in the off-season - yet played against Miami.

Hhahah yeah I agree with you. But remember Nicholson did get sent home for the Orange Bowl hah. Yeah I dunno sometimes about the coaches, but its not just FSU, many teams/coaches will look the other way. I was actually glad they didnt make a big deal about the gun, I was just surprised that I saw nothing negative about it.

Oh - the negitive press was out there. We just didn't have PTI, LaBatard, et al of the truly "national press" on our asses for that.
We just had the little internet retards and local radio turds skewering us.

Saw that this morning, now what does everyone think?? #1 vs. #2 early season game. I think we all know OU drops out of the top 10 pretty quickly. I am feeling the Dukie love, they got there one vote(prob from their coach if hes even a voter).

The coach's poll is not as good as fans generally believe at any time , in theory coaches know the game, in practice, they don't pay serious attention to what non conference relevant opponenets are doing. They can read team's better than fans, but they don't have the time or perceived need to. They knowingly vote on teams they play and vote based on historical professional rep otherwise.

All polls methodologies are suspect ,to a greater or lesser degree, the advantage of the present system is that the input variance is smoothed out by using more for a fairer assesment than the old two alone.

More specifically, Notre Dame at #3 is overrated,Weiss,Quinn and Samardzija aren't going to overcome an average team otherwise with poor depth, Oklahoma's two screwups just shot them in the foot and the rest of team will have to really hustle to make up for it to stay in the race, most look about right as a general placing into the upper, middle and lower tier of the top 25 with it's a guess on exact positioning, and Clemson, Tennesee and Nebraska are three teams at the bottom here that I would say are good possibilities to move up.

At best you could call these preseasons SWAG's (Semi scientific Wild ass Guesses);at worst, stupid outdated fan hypesheets that rob deserving teams later in the year of getting their just recognizition.

Polls before October
Yeah I have always laughed at early polls. I mean cmon, they never end up being the same. Usually only like 15 teams or so are correct, I mean you always have the C-USA or MAC leader in the top 25 just to fill someone there with 2 losses or whatever. Even if Wake could beat them, but I do think that ND is overrated(its the media's team just like the yanks) so they will always have media backing them. Except on occasions they will trash them, but amazingly find some player doing well alone to talk about so more positives come up. We all know that, WVU I think should have a legit shot at the BCS title game this year. Starting at #7 will help them with their weak schedule. Even though I think they are the real deal, as we saw them tear UGA a new one last year. I was surpised to see UM behind FSU, everything Ive read from sports writers have UM as a better team overall, but we will find out Labor Day weekend. Iowa and Arkansas are my sleepers of the year. I always pick Iowa though, so I am sure they will let me down again. And I love what Nutt is putting together in Little Rock(too bad McFadden had to go get hurt fighting outside a bar). But yeah, we will wait until mid-conference game time to see who is really legit or not.
