| I am one | Man! That sucks so bad. Mike Tyson used to be a monster, destroying powerful men like they were children, and now - nothing. The article said it best when they called him a shell of his former self. I just wish things would work out for him, but hell nothing will if he doesn't try. This may be a little far out there, but I can see Mike killing himself. He's always had mental problems, but after prison he was gooone, and now that it's over for his career (and he's said before in interviews that fighting is all he has and is the only thing he's ever felt happiness from) and he still has all those money issues...maybe I'm way off (hope so) but it's some weird feeling I have. |

| Registered User | im dissapointed. i grew up 15 years ago looking at the dude on tv and thinking he was flat out 'da man'. I was rooting for him to make some sort of a run at a piece of the 'weak' heavyweight class right now..... but its over. Sage |

| Registered User | No worries, though--he got $5 million for the fight. |

| Registered User | He gets almost none of the money after taxes and alimony. Plus he is still $40 million in debt. "Loyalty above all else, except Honor" "I don't know which is worse, that everyone has a price or that the price is always so low"--Hobbes |

| My P3N1Z is chafed. | I don't know why he calls it quits when he has $40M in debt! He can still get paid to lose for a little while longer...Bummer though...he used to be so fun to watch ![]() -“Anyone who doesn't take truth seriously in small matters cannot be trusted in large ones either.”-Albert Einstein -"Never trust the teller. | Bill Walsh, aka "The Genius" R.I.P. | Bummer, I really wanted to see him regain his old form where opponents were scared before he threw the first punch. I used to admire the guy's boxing ability and will miss his pre-fight interviews. I guess it's time for some reality TV or WWE now that he won't fight so he can repay the debt. | Gate Keeper Board Moderator | Its over for "Iron" Mike. I loved him as a fighter but he even admitted he has been fighting to pay bills not because he loved the sport. It's a shame when one of the great ones falls but it was bound to happen. RIP Iron Mike |

| I am one | I was wondering the same thing Iron. I mean, it was like he didn't really even try. Could he have really been so badly out of shape that he truly gave it his all and still bombed? He was just so blithe about his career being over and his entire future in question. Hello?! If I had $40 million in debt I'd swim through hell to pay that off. People "go missing" over debt like that. If nothing else, why not just hold to your obligations and keep fighting to pay what you owe? That would be the stand-up thing to do. |
