i was a skinny-ass runt as a kid, till i got hurt at age 12 and had to rehabilitate with 1lb DB - led to fascination with weights
dint break 5' nor 100lbs until that summer of my 12th yr (so almost 13 i was)
at 16, i was 5-6 and 150lbs - but could weight train with the high-school football team and more than hold my own
even then - i would flex my bi's, and ppl would be amazed such a skinny kid had bigger arms then them
(had no legs tho - srs, they were skinny as twigs)

always been athletic, just didn't realize my physique potential until much older in life
which - conicidentally, is when i began the journey on learning nutrition and delving deeper into training

  2. Just curious. I was always bigger and lanky with big wide shoulders. Wish I had discovered weights earlier in my life. Didn't start lifting until about 20.

20 is still early but there is a lot to be said for lifting during the years of puberty. You have a good base brother nothing to sneeze at. You should be proud of your accomplishments. As for me I was a squatty body, always carrying some fat unless I was dieting pretty hard. I had moobs from the time I was 11 which is what got me into lifting anyway.

  4. I was always a "stocky" or husky kid. When I stretched out I didn't lean out just had more room. always had love handles.

you guys are killin me with the descriptions lol
no disrespect or poking at, just find it humorous
hell i dint care about bodytypes or what my body looked like really back when i was a kid - except, sly and arnold surely made an impression on me and i enjoyed their movies (well sly's anyway, was never a big Conan fan but was in awe of the physique..Terminator was first flick i thought arnie was cool in)

i was more worried about my buck teeth (straight now) big nose (grew into it) how short i was (again - i grew) and acne

Well a naturally skinny/think kid wouldn't worry about the body. LOL I wasn't stressing til a girl I asked out told me my chest looked like a girls. Bad thing is I couldn't really argue with her...

  9. Re: Snag continues his off-season REDEFINing

Yeah it was rough and I got all bent over it. My sisters boyfriend was the high school football stud. He gave me his old bench a week.later and told.me start lifting. That my chest will fill out and no one will make fun of you. 2 years later I was 175-180 and he was right.

  10. Back in the day we didn't train that much in the off season, I played football hockey and baseball though. Professional football players had just started using weights and Hockey players were slobs back then. As I got older I fugged my football chances, stopped playing baseball and hockey. I was just a goon in hockey anyway. I got into drugs and partying till I was 32 when I got sober I started training again in my late 20's but not seriously till I got sober. I was pretty overweight most of the time. I have always been a fighter though.

Yah I spent most of my playing days in the penalty box, I was there to protect the good players, hockey was a lot rougher in the 60's and 70's ... age of the Flyers lol I had the head referee come into our dressing room and threaten to kick me out of the league.

Perfect DW lol. Yeah I played when i was really young and gave it up when I hit middle school then got back into it freshman year of high school but not play middle school put me behind the eight ball so I gave it up after sophomore year. I got back into it playing men's league hockey for a couple years then got busy so I play pick up hockey with about 20 people once a week and loved it. Now I don't have time for it again.

    gawdd almighty, just...stop

back to your regularly scheduled programming

  15. No doubt and leave these people alone so they are getting caught not like they are the only ones doing it... What is sad is America feels betrayed because of it like these guys don't have amazing talent and crazy work ethic that got them to their points in the game...

  16. aye

friggin media kills me..always gotta be a scoop, always tryin to expose somebody, blow shyt up..crucify them
    lance armstrong all over again..

(and the suckers who live their lives guided by ALL that the media tells them)
is the media who pumps these guys up to begin with..only to drag 'em back down

media very powerful thing..oh don't get me started

so much fail here, on sooo many different fronts..amazing

  17. I don't care what Ray does to get him to where he needs to be, he's a fuggin e****lent Father and human being with a real passion for life.

  18. If you haven't read the story on SI you should. The guy naming all those players is very shady. Basically just a name dropper.

That was my impression as well...

me neither DW, could care less

the issue i have, is lying (not saying he did)

is why i applaud mark mcgwire - everyone else was saying oh no! not me! (raffy palmeiro shaking his finger at congressional committee "i NEVER EVER" used.." and couple months later gets popped for test - and promptly blames his teammate for tainted vit b12 shot)

mcgwire is the ONLY one who did not deny, and said "i'm not here to talk about the past" - effectively confirming, and yet NOT denying (and lying)

and what happens? they crucified mark worse than anyone else
    smhs

    ridiculous

if you dint do it, great scream loud as you want
none of my business? okay i can accept that
if you did it, just don't lie about it
is all i ask, don't think it's too much to request

i have a very basic problem with liars, period
    is my pet peeve

truth is something i happen to hold in very high regard

    i have read

all of these "characters" who come forward are shady..is a common streak it seems

however - they all have been proven and verified to be truthful in this aspect, when naming names and telling their involvement, after they get caught

    brian macnamee (clemens)
a whole slew of ppl (balco)
armstrong (who didn't tell on him? yet - were doing it right along with him)

    etc etc

  22. I'm just talking about the SWAT supplement company.

  23. aachh..i hear you

i get sidetracked man..if i dwell on this too long, i get sidetracked (hence why i am trying to change that aspect within myself)

    lies tho - everyone lies
from the lil white lies one tells others to make other person feel better..
to the lies one tell others to make themselves feel better..
to the whoppers one tells to cover their own tracks/improprieties

    ppl even lie to themselves
(not to mention the pathological liars running around, who do it cuz they can't help it)
you see it everywhere, every day, in many different forms
you see it in this very forum

ahh, just a basic flaw in humanity, that disgusts and discourages me

    okay, off my soapbox again

time to focus on something positive now

  24. Snags, what is your carb choice for intra...dextrose? I seem to be running out of gas towards the end of my sessions and was thinking of throwing in some carbs intra to see if it aids in this issue.

    absolutely man
cheap, effective, no need to get fancy
    dex+bcaa works splendid imo

technically tho - the issue you speak of could be rectified by other avenue ie, preWO shake w/ proper structure/daily overall dietary consumption etc
but if all this is on point, sure, give it a go

    love the new avi btw
    you are aging so well..

  26. I have my good days and bad days. Lol

  27. I agree for during a workout dextrose is the way to go it acts so fast and as he said is very cheap.

  28. cals for today ~4150
    400p/300c/150f

i'm still gun-shy about swapping out higher fat for lower carb right now..i like where things are, for the moment
i think my carb-metabolism has changed over the course of the past year..perhaps fats too
    is interesting

fantastic back session this day, kept it to 3 exercises (bent bb rows, cable pulldowns to front, DB lawnmowers) 6 sets each
rep range from 20 to 6, short rest periods (1:15 for now - and dropping)..nice sweat
beat on the abs again a bit, DB sidebends and some weighted hanging knee-ups

another cold front blowing in - was upper 50s yesterday & today, gonna be down to 10 tonight and stay there again, teens for awhile

just when i was getting used to working out without my parka

  29. It was 90 yesterday down here.
