Antibacterial Java Lather Liquid

I'll let you decide here...

my supplier introduced a quick and easy antibacterial additive that won't change the price of the Java Lather liquid at all.

How important is this feature to everyone?

I have VERY mixed feeings on it, myself.

To me, highly important. Staph is very prevalent in my area and I do not want to get that and/or MRSA.

It is suggested that the "Anti-bacterial everything" craze is contributing to the evolution of resistant bacteria that could come back and kill us.

Rodja's staph statement is a good example, as there are more and more super strains popping up immune to antibiotics and other septic agents.

I would use it only after grappling since that is the place where I am most likely to pick up something.

Reminds me of that George Carlin stand-up when he was talking about how he and his friends never washed their hands, played in the mud, swam in the river and never got sick.

I hear that, but don't believe it personally Matt.

Maybe to some extent, but isn't that what hand washing is suppose to do (kill germs). Are we now not going to wash our hands before we eat? Sounds like a John Stossel "Give Me a Break!".

Right on matt. The overuse of anti-microbials and antibiotics have lead to the development of multiple resistant bacterial strains that are getting harder and harder to treat every year. Anti-microbials don't kill all the pathogenic bacteria that live on the skin. The ones that are exposed and survive pass along genetic material that enable the next generation to develop resistance leading to an increasing problem. I see the culture reports(of all different natures)that come back almost daily. It's truly becoming more frightening as the years go on. Good old thorough handwashing with soap and water does the job very well if done correctly.

MRSA(methacilin resistant staph aureus) is only the begininng of bad things to come. I can't even begin to tell you how many more MRSA based abscesses i've seen in the last few years coming through the E.R. Clindamycin, Vancomycin, and Gentamycin are now being used more than ever before. They are honestly one of the last line of potent antibiotic defenses we have left. VRE(vancomycin resistant enterobacter)is also now becoming a huge issue.

The key might be "overuse". I use my Java Lather Liquid once a day. An antibacterial should not do any damage in such a scenario. Yet, an anti-bacterial in the mix remains a nice-to-have, not a must-have.
