the best tasting meatballs have a combo of meats, not just beef. My mother's recipe uses "meatball mix" - beef, veal, and pork. Mostly beef.
also taste much better if cooked first in oven, then finished off in the sauce pot, assimilating the meat flavor to the sauce, and tomato flavors to the meats.

1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
1/4 cup uncooked long grain rice
1 slightly beaten egg
1 tablespoon fresh parsley or 1/2 tablespoon dried parsley
2-3 tablespoons chopped onions
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 dash pepper to taste
1 (10.5oz) can tomato soup
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
Combine first 7 ingredients, and 1/4 cup of the tomato soup.
Shape into about 20 small balls and place in a large skillet.
Mix rest of soup, water, and worcestershire in a small bowl, pour over meatballs.
Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat, cover, and simmer 40 mintes or until meatballs are cooked and rice is soft.
