I have a hunch bb will not be on espn for awhile b/c this sport is too subjective and politics play a role and to be honest its not that exciting to watch, take for example the last Olympia everyone saw that J cutler was not at his best, heck he was nowhere near Victors shape and he still won how do you explain that to the general public?

I think the overall value and excitement of a bb show does not bring much to the table for espn to broadcast I mean if they are showing rock paper scissors championship and hot dog eating contests they must find those shows to be more profitable than bb.
steroids are a political hot point right now but other sports use them and they are getting broadcast, i think for bb to be shown 1 supplement companies have to get behind it and 2 the shows have to get more interesting

They wont run it cause the juice. It is not talked about in the BB community openly, and def not on TV.
I mean look what happend to the guy on the Bigger,Stronger,Faster movie, he worked for Muscletech got fired for openly admiting it. and i think in trouble with the police.
They are not open to running somehting that also seems to have a "gay" theme to it. I mean, the sport is not accepted by many. Sure, everyone wants to be one, but not many have what it takes nor know what they are doing.
They are also boring. All the other things you listed, Ping-Pong,Eating, etc etc all keep moving or happen fast.
It wont happen, and honestly i dont want ti too. Its already popular enough, we dont need more people out there tryin to buy juice becasue they think with enough they'll be on the Olympia stage within the next 2 years....this isnt like other sports. You gotta to do work and put in alot of time....
IMO, BBing is not a sport....its a lifestyle.

2. it is boring unless you are really into bb'ing.
....mainly #2 though. It is just posing/flexing. Nothing too insane. The general public can't even decipher what being in condition is. They are all fat so seeing someone 'lean' is more than enough detail for them.

It isn't steroids. It's because bodybuilding shows SUCK and espn couldn't pay advertisers to use airtime.

Wel after that MrO which was when bodybuilder got CRAZY popular and was becoming more a side show, physiques began to thicken and grow for the previous eras.
Strongman, are you really comparing that to BBing...? WSM is exciting and fukcing intense, thats why it makes it.
BB shows dont have sponsers or companies willing too....do you really wanna see 50 BSN,Muscletech,NOW,Viagra,GNC, Vitamin shoppe, etc etc commercials?
BBing can not be accepted ever. Get used to it. Just like when you see people in public...theres...
"oh he must workout"
"oh youre big, how strong are you?"
"oh, what a freak...he must do steroids...shhhh he may hear"
The guy on Bigger, stronger, faster i guess got fired and involved with law enforcemtn due to confession off use. he was with muscletech and "tarnished" the name i guess....phh
DIT: wait the 99 MrO was? any document to prove that? I know a few older ones like early 90s late 80s i thought.

ESPN would put on womens amputee bowling if it made money. But bodybuilding is just too boring and no one outside of us freaks wants to watch it. I go to 3 or 4 shows a year, usually WNBF and NPC and lets face it, its just not very exciting. The IFBB at least has the freak factor but after 20 minutes of that everyone probably looks alike to the average tv viewer.

same thing with paintball serious players that train year round and compete year round on the national level want to see their sport on espn and tv but the the only market to put something like that on espn isnt big enough not to mention for the average non paintballer/non body builder both sports are very boring to watch
08-14-2008, 01:52 PM
they have paintball on ESPN sometimes. I used to watch it all the time. It wasnt great casue you couldnt see the ****in ball and it really just looks like peoepl running around with fake guns going "bang bang" like when you were a kid haha....
Its not the idea of just audience guys, its what it represents. Kids will anna be liek that and ask parents how they get liek that, eventually they will find out hwo and do steroids.
It has bad news all over it.
We're just getting through the Olympics now, we dont need more reason for the DEA to be douche bags.

unless the fda gets on stage to bust someone, it will not be on ESPN anytime soon. Lee Haney used to have a Sunday morning show, late 80's early 90's. Real early in the am, my fatherused to make me wake up for that. Outside of that show, it wont be back

you said "it looks like people running around with fake guns" thats what the common non player would say. but to someone who has played competitively they understand the difficulty of the moves the guys make on the field not and the kind of training these guys put them selves threw in order to compete on that level
the same can be said about body building. to the average person its just a bunch of over grown people in tiny underwear with overly large bodies but to avid gym goers that are interested in getting bigger and being as strong as possible they can appreciate things like Ronnie Coleman's lat spread and the over all condition these guys get in prior to getting on stage
i think steroids has little to do with the choice to not air body building if that was the case baseball would be in the same boat as would professional wrestling(which many more kids watch then bb's)

the style i played competed in and trained for is much different then what you see in the woods just go to youtube and search for some speedball videos you will see its not the classic hunt and hide type game its constant motion with some very quick moves especially from rite after the start whistle
keep in mind we were running full out sprints most games in the middle of summer with long sleeve jerseys on and t-shirts underneath long pants with shorts underneath a mask so air flow was restricted head wraps to add padding to get bouces from our heads and packs with 10 to 15ish lbs of paint on our back while holding and shooting fully loaded guns with large air tanks and running
