is a "hit" routine bad for strength gains??

i have gotten advice on this forum before about how to get stronger, but i decided to use a hit routine to put on some size, and get in some quality gym time. was reading a thread and "guyfromp" said hit is not geared toward strength, which is my long term goal, is this true. if so ill probobly keep going until i plateau, then switch to a more plier workout.

Hey bud, if you want some serious advice on here... leave some info too. Like how long you have been on HIT your diet and what not. Then a bunch of numbskulls will bomb bard you with all there opinions... THEN you get to figure out which ones sounds good to you I like DC... so there is my vote

I've been doing HIT routines (with minor modifications here and there) for over 10 years. Started with Mentzer's original plan and went from there. Love it!!

Basically it's one works set per muscle group with very minimal warm-up.

I really believe that everybody has a different recovery ability (and mines slow as sh1t!). I, however, would NEVER say that HIT training is right for everybody or even the majority. I just know it's right for me.

never really stuck to one single program for too long. worked out for about 3yrs. only getting serious past month or so. havent done maxes but bench is 265, deadlift 295, squat 315. diet is good, at least 3500cal, 250g protein. recover really quick, but carefull not to over train. what ill do is use hit till i plateau, switch to something else.

I think HIT definately has a place in training for PL. Age and other factors always play into what's best for any one individual. I use HIT principles now because after one or two hard work sets, that are heavy, I'm just about done. But I'm 47 and recovery and over-training are always concerns.

When I was your size I tryed hit... and it made me really vascular but not very strong and didn't add mass. IF your goal with long arms is to get big, HIT may not be your best bet, but give it a whirl and let us know what you think
