Some of the best exercises you never do

Okay, here are some exercises I've been doing lately that will kick the **** out of you and make you beastly strong.

1. One armed push ups: These are a great exercise, not only for arm strength, but for core strength. Start out with your legs wide apart and your arm in front of you, and bring your legs closer together and your arm more in towards your side as you get stronger. When you can do 10 reps that way, wrap chains around your upper body, or put your feet on a swiss ball.

2. One armed standing military press: Another great exercise, try to keep your torso straight upright. You can either do these strictly, or with a leg pump like a one armed jerk. Intense core blaster, builds the entire upper body.

3. One armed deadlifts: Use an ez-curl bar, load it up, and stand on the left or right side of the bar, squat down and pick it up with one hand while trying to keep your torso as upright as possible.

4. Wall pushups: lie face perpendicular to a wall, put your feet up on the wall with knees bent. Put your hands slightly in front of you, push up, then use your feet to walk up the wall till you get yourself to about a 30 degree angle. Keep yourself from falling down by keeping your core stiff and pushing yourself into the wall slightly with your hands. Then do pushups. If you can do more than 10 wrap chains around your torso. Also try putting your arms farther in front of you, and coming down by arching your back, bending your arms and relaxing your lats, then pushing back up by straightening your arms, contracting your lats and straightening your back, like a modified jacknife - The stronger you get here the farther you should move your hands forward.

Agree on everything except the one armed push up and the only reason is the risk vs, reward. Too easy to mess that shoulder up big time.

I read a recent clinical study on these in M&F, and these were like 300% more effective at building core strength that your typical core strength exercises i.e. superman on Pilatte Ball.
