Light except for the rack pulls. The hammer strength equipment makes things much easier.

  3. Chest

    315x5
    405x5

I had a ****ty workout, kinda felt like a ***** today, lol. I got 615 for a double, but couldn't get 665 today. My handoffs were ****ty (135lb guys who were asked last second, not their fault at all) and I had just lifted heavy on tuesday, I just didn't have it in me today. I will take the week off from benching (I will try to anyways) and try again next week. I will be putting a vid up later sometime, as soon as I get it from the guy who taped it. I was just weak as hell today, can't really make any excuses. I will get it on tape sometime, and I will hit it at Palmers meet. Its ok if you call me a ***** today, I deserve it, lol

  4. Hey Nick, nice lifts

BTW, you should probably look for more competent spotters.

  5. I had some guys that were supposed to be there but didn't show up, it sucks, they really were the worst lift offs I have ever had.

  8. Nick,

What is your raw bench and shirted bench?

I'm curious just because if you're hitting over 600 raw I would imagine 800-900 was in reach geared up.

    Keep up the impressive training.

  9. if his big ass gets used to the shirt and finds his groove, he'll probably hit 1k+. lattimer hit 550 raw and hits 900+ shirted. then there's the gene miracle, 405 raw is a struggle, but hit 1k in a superduper shirt

  10. which basically to me means he's a stronger bench than both of them, at 100lbs lighter.

    JMO however.

Hope his recovery from Olympia is going well. I can't believe he went for 1015 or whatever it was. I don't mean to judge, but that seemed a bit of an absurd jump.

  12. Here is the link to Gene's attempt:
    http://media.putfile.com/BenchPress25

  13. most I have done raw is 665, and in a shirt is 805 gym lift. My technique isn't up to par but I am working on it

  14. That raw bench is fantastic. How long have you been training with a shirt?

i train at a gym that's gene sometimes trains at, i was talking to the owner and he said his shirt slipped down on the attempt, he's completely recovered now.

  16. I've trained about 3.5-4months in a shirt, well I have actually only used a shirt for about 2 of those months. I have competed in a shirt for about 6 months, I used to just throw it on and hope for the best, lol.

  17. Chest/tris
Floor presses-modified and paused (2 seconds)
    315x5
    405x5
    505x5
    605x2
    650x1

Thats all I had time for due to a meeting for my Jan term class. I did all of these paused, closer than comp grip, and raised (so I could touch my chest). I did these in order to help get ready for the Palmer classic meet. I am ready and looking very much forward to the meet. I was setup like I do for a comp bench (up on my traps) but no leg drive, I was very pleased with how explosive I was off of my chest.

Thats pretty funny that u screwed up the knee by slipping on a roof rather than squating 850lbs I hope you get better real soon man. If you get any time do u think u could pm me your schedule. I'm also a powerlifter and would be interested to see your split/ rep scheme/ exercises. Thanks, did you invest in cissus for post surgery?

I haven't squatted that heavy since I ****ed up my knee. I have stuck to high rep stuff since. I have not really invested in much except for knee braces and compression sleeves. My workout schedule is in the first post, and my rep scheme is very low (usually no higher then 10 for most exercises, 5 or less on chest exercises and 20 reps for squats).

just re-read your post, knee was screwed up due to the shearing force caused by turning my knee and sliding down the roof, not something that happens during squats. I have very strong tendons, but apparently my weight twisting that fast was enough to tear my miscus up.

  20. Yesterday all I got in were rack pulls, 10" high (higher than the bar) and worked my way up to 850 (up to 650 without a belt, I am paying for that today).

    Today
    Delts
    Arnold's
    100'sx12x4sets

    Side laterals (cable)
    90x10x4

    front raises (cable)
    90x10x4

    Tri's
    Rope press downs
    150x10
    200x10x4

Tate presses (finally found out the name of this exercise, lol)
    100'sx10x4

Felt a little weak today, I think its because I haven't eaten much (until just now) because of school being so hectic. I think workouts will be a little shorter the next couple weeks until finals are over with. Luckilly my raw debut will 3 days after finals are over so I will be getting plenty of rest before hand.

  21. In my oppinion, its not out of your range to one day bench a grand.

  22. Nick,

Any thoughts/comments on phera-plex's impact on your workouts?

Definately a very positive impact on my workouts. Strength gains, great pumps, and mass gains (which coupled with the strength gains is amazing motivation to keep going to the gym and hitting the weights as hard as possible). I love PP, definately a huge help in my progress so far, and I will keep cycling on and off until I get my 700!

  24. Chest
Elevated floor presses (so I can touch my chest for a pause)
    315x5
    405x5
    515x5
    615x3
665x1 (not quite a 2sec pause, but damn close)

    Rope press downs (cables)
    150x10
    200x10x4

    Tate presses
    100'sx10x4

One arm tricep press downs (cables)
    120x10x3

Once again I had to cut the workout short because of school work, it was still a very productive workout and I tied my touch and go PR with a paused rep. This is my last real heavy workout before the meet on the 18th. I will work tri's heavy again, but will slack off on the bench (nothing over 600-615, my starting weight at the comp). I get more excited about this meet after every chest workout. Tri's are sore as hell already, I take that as a sign that I have worked them hard enough.

  25. Nick. Is the Tate Press you're talking about this exercise:

    Yes, but on an incline

  27. What do you put under yourself on elevated floor press?

  28. Quote Originally Posted by ivydude

small exercise mats, I sink in a little bit and it causes me to lose a little bit of the tiny arch I have, but I like the lack of leg drive and the added safety (my handoff guy is short and tends to drop the heavy weights on me).

  29. Back
    Close grip pull downs
    200x10
    400x10x4

    Wide grip pull downs
    400x10x4

    Mid reverse grip pull downs
    400x10x4

    Bent over rows
    315x10x2
    335x10x2

No rack pulls due to me forgetting to bring straps (I have the grip strength of a little girl). I still got a pretty good workout in, not too heavy and not too light. No school work to mess with tonights workout which was very nice. I am a little upset about the lack of rack pulls, I am really starting to love them, I guess I could throw them in on thursday.

  30. what's Mid reverse grip pull downs?

and tisk tisk on the weak grip strength, i'm sure the guys at wsb love to rip into you about that

Medium grip (between wide and close grip) using a reverse grip, I was in a hurry and didn't bother to explain. Sorry about that.

No, they don't make fun of me for it. I workout with the benchers so they really don't have much room to talk. My grip strength is not really as bad as I am making it out to be, I have done 550 before without straps (not great, but better than most little girls, lol).

  32. haha yea, true that

  33. Chest
    bench
    315x5
    405x5
    515x3
    635xmiss*
    635xmiss*
    605x1
    635x1
    660x1

    Floor presses touching chest/long pause
    500x5
    585x3
    615x2
    635x1

    Incline
    405x5
    500x3
    525x2
    550x1

Hit everything hard one last time before my upcoming comp, I am going to take everything easy next week and not go over my opener (600 or 615). I had a couple misses on bench because of lousy handoffs, its hard to adjust with 635 in your hands and then try and get the rep. On all the bad handoffs I ended up slipping to one side the bench because the bar was just dropped before I got a chance to set. I will be sore as hell tomorrow, but am going to eat everything in my house and my gf's room tonight, so that should help with recovery. My shoulders are a little sore from all the heavy lifting, especiall the heavy inclines after everything else.

  34. ok, I did a tri workout that I didn't post, wasn't anything special. Today I did chest, and worked up to my opener 615. I did the lift with a flat back (no arch, no shoulder tuck) and a 5 sec pause. It went up pretty easilly, but that long of a pause made it a little harder than I thought it would be. My workouts will be nice easy ones for the rest of the week due to my upcoming comp and this is finals week at my college.
