First Meet

    Federation: WNPF
    Division: 198s/Novice/Raw(no knee wraps)
    Total: 935

    Summary: As you can tell I am not very strong. There were at least 50 lifters here. The meet went relatively fast. I won first place in the 198s novice raw division(probably only a handful in this division). As you will be able to see I was practically ATGing the squats out of fear of failing. Probably could have stayed up an inch and got that last squat. Bench I suck at hard. My singlet is very tight around the legs and ass and my ass moved a hair so I got a fail on the second one. That gassed me for the 3rd attempt. Deadlift I went 3 for 3. I had some trouble getting my body vertical but being that it is my strong point I still nailed them all. Everyone was very cool and I had a great time. I look forward to beating these numbers later this year.

    Side note: Seen a lot of records broken which was awesome.

    What I learned: Everyone is very cool and if you are going to go out and do your best it doesn't matter your numbers. Everyone is very supportive and if you are thinking about competing just do it. The judges in this federation were strict and I seen some people get robbed IMO so learn the judges of the federation. I saw a 625 raw dead stolen from the guy who one the 242s(I believe). Set up openers that you will nail(Thank you Rodja!) and have fun. Oh, and if you are unsure don't jump weight too much.

    I would like to give an extra thanks to Rodja for all his help in this.

  3. Nice lifting. Certainly deep enough on those squats and you can judge depth from front.(hahaha) Strong efforts.

    Man I was not used to not having a mirror to see my depth. I honestly had no idea how low I was going until I came out in the crowd to see the big boys squat and the wife showed me the videos. I was so freaking nervous about not getting depth lol.

  13. LOL those squats were like when I did my first comp a little while back. I was so nervous to hit depth that I went DEEP. Awesome work man..congrats!

  15. my first 1 meets i dropped ATG on my openning squat. my last meet i came just shy of bottoming out on my second attempt which matched my previous PR. one of the judges came up to right afterwards and was like, you can shave off about 6 inches and still be good on those squats. so go get a huge PR on your 3rd attempt.

    i shaved off the depth and hammered a huge PR.
    you can call me "ozzie" for short.

    That's awesome they helped you. Before 315 was my gym pr and it felt heavy. 325 didn't feel heavy on my back so I think if I did the same it would have worked out. Hopefully I will have help next time; I will also ask next time if need be.

    How did you know what to wear? Like singlets and such. I'm always lifting in compression shirts and slightly higher than knee level shorts. Is this a federation mandate? Of all the things my wife hates about competitive powerlifting (yes its *#%ing ridiculous my wife doesn't support me) the singlets are probably what I'll get the most **** from. And you know what?

    All federations will have a rule book. Generally it's singlet, t-shirt, and knee high socks. Meet directors are pretty cool if you have a question that isn't specifically answered, and then there is a "going over all the rules" right before the meet starts. Tell your wife to go to tape you lol. Mine did...she actually had fun. Some of the other guys wives didn't like it so it is a crap shoot haha.
