Lift for Hope 2009 is a Memorial / Charity Highlander State Championship, APF Deadlift Meet and first ever Youth Highlander Championship. A continuation of the successful event held last year, Invalid Link Removed* with a % of the proceeds going to benefit the Big Brothers and Big sisters Of Central Arizona. As well as funds, bringing awareness to their cause, awareness to strength sports in general, and a family friendly atmosphere to spectate and take part in an athletic event and the other planned entertainment. The event is 100% funded by sponsorship, athlete entry fees and donations. Everything from the money going to BBBSAZ down to the cost of equipment, venue, prizes etc. is due to the generous donations and support of the sponsors and you. The contestants have 3 chance to put a stone for distance, longest put counts
LW, Masters, MW, HW = 16 - 22 lb stone
women = 8 - 12lb stone

Tire flip
The contestants have 60 seconds to flip a tire 75 feet
Weights:
LW = 300lb
MW = 600lb
HW = 6700lb
Masters = 300lb
Womens = 300lb

The contestants have 3 chance to toss a weight for distance, longest toss counts

LW = 42lbs
Masters 42lbs
HW and MW = 56lb
Women = 28lb

Youth Highlander State Championship
Classes Divided by age, 7-10, 11-13, 14-16
capped @ 15 entries per class

- "Your Business Here" Sled Drag
Contestants have 60 seconds to drag a sled backward 75 feet
They will be judged on time to complete the course or the distance achieved in the allotted time.
7-10 = 20 lb sled
11-13 = 40 lb sled
14-16 = 75 lb sled

- "Your Business Here" Standing Stone Put
Contestants have 3 tires to put a heavy stone
They will be judged the distance of the furthest Put
7-10 = 5 lb stone
11-13 = 10 lb stone
14-16 = 15 lb stone

- "Your Business Here" Tug Of War
Contestants have 60 seconds to drag there opponent across a center line
if time runs out it is who has made the most progress at pulling thier opponent across the center line.
The contestants will go in bracket style until the winner is the last man standing.

OK it is official I am adding an APF sanctioned deadlift only meet that J.R. Bolger will Run to the 2009 Lift for Hope Along side the Highlander games already planned. OK another update on Lift For Hope. I am adding a first ever Youth Highlander State Championship so the kids can get involved. The classes will be divided into age groups = 7-10 years, 11-13 years, 14-16 years look for update on the site. also got a few more product sponsors Ill be adding very soon

I now have at least three bands coming, most likely more and several comedians that will be playing on one soccer field , then the athletic events on the other. I also found a caterer (all star catering) that is going to come and bring their service and sell 100% all beef 1/4 lb hot dogs for $2.50 and give the profits to the event to raise money for the charity.

Should be a great time for all, Get those entries in

Lift For Hope 2009 is tomorrow everyone. I have a LOT in store for you,the Highlander State Championship, an APF Deadlift meet, , 3 maybe 4 live bands and a comedian, raffle prizes, give away, Massage for donations, food, , mascots giving gifts to the children, etc.

I have 25 athletes so far and likely some walk on's last minute.

Make note I dd move the event about a month ago to the Gilbert Civic Center, 50 Civic Center Drive, Gilbert Az 85296 from 10-4pm
