alright just got a call from a close friend (and yes it's a friend, not me just BSing). he just got his blood work back from the doc. lipids were f-ed up and they put him on a script called "syntaroid". i found out thats for the thyroid gland. the lipid issue comment he gave me was "my cholesterol is bad". so i guess my question is there a supplement or 12, that he could start taking to get things back to somewhat of a normal level? does anyone have experience with this script or a situation like this one? I've never had a problem with lipids or my thyroid, so i can't really help here, i have no experience with this stuff. i told him "i'm not a doc. but i will ask some people and see".

Synthroid you mean? I'm assuming he was juicing, did he tell his doctor? kinda helps when trying not to get inappropriate perscriptions. He can take cholest-off or a similar supplement, the plant sterols in it are clinically proven to reduce cholesterol. btw, the FDA prohibits the use of the phrase 'clinically proven' unless it really is true, that's why you'll always see 'scientifically proven', 'studies show', but rarely the exact phrase 'clinically proven'.

Anyway, that supplement can be found at the grocery store. Other then that, fish oil and other omega 3 rich products and good complex carbs like steel cut oats will help him a lot.
