This is news to me!

Recent studies suggest that taking SSRI antidepressants such as Paxil, Prozac, Zoloft, etc., can decrease the effectiveness of tamoxifen (Nolva), because these drugs compete for the CYP2D6 enzyme which is needed to metabolize tamoxifen into the active form endoxifen. Not sure if that's the same with every other SERM too.

I am currently taking Celexa (20mg), a newer SSRI. Well, the Nolva (starting @ 50mg first week) seemed to work better when I hadn't taken the Celexa in a few days, or maybe it was just starting to work after a week, who knows.

What's wierd though is that after a couple days of discontinuing the Celexa, I usually get those wierd SSRI withdrawal zaps all over. Well, it had been 4 days of not taking Celexa while taking Nolva and I didn't get ANY SSRI withdrawal symptoms. Wish I would have known this when I was comming off of Paxil! That was the sh*ts!
