Loss of libido after finasteride

Hey guys,

I took finasteride at 1 mg per day for 5 months. I got sides virtually withing weeks and was told by doc to ride it out as they will probabley go away. 5 months later i stopped cold turkey and my side effects of low libido and erectyle dysfunction got far worse. I stopped about 4 months ago and i have had zero improvement. My testosterone level before fin was 25.4 nmol/L range (11-40). A month after stopping, my testosterone dropped to 16.3. It has been slowly creeping up since and is now at 21.8 but i am no improvement downstairs. Also my free testosterone contuinues to drop and is now 31pmol/L ref (60-130). On top of that, my FSH is low - 2 U/L ref (3-20) and my LH is also low - 2 (<9). Here are all of my most recent hormones:

Testosterone: 21.8 ref (11-40) nmol/L
Free Testosterone: 31 ref (60-130) pmol/L
SHBG: 33 ref (10-70) nmol/L
LH: 2 ref (<9) U/L
FSH: 2 ref (3-20) U/L
Oestradiol: 92 ref (40-250) pmol/L
Prolactin: 160 ref (<500) mIU/L
DHT: 2 ref (2-20)

Im thinking maybe i need to try and kickstart my HPTA again. Im only in my 20's and this is starting to become a problem. Any ideas?
 
fina decreases my libido too so I take activate to bring it back a little. also I am taking .5mg. I sometimes take 2 days off to help bring libido back. no problems downstair though. not sure how to help with your problem you might check out the hrt section.

Here's the thing, it's probably the estrogen-testosterone ratio that is responsible for your ED in your 20s. It's not a lack of test or DHT. In short, DHT regulates Estrogen but Finasteride kills DHT. Therefore, you might have more estrogen floating around than usual. That would drive your E/E2:Testosterone ratios off.

I would go with Aromasin - That will kill excess estrogen and boost your Testosterone significantly. If you can't get Aromasin, look into 6OXO or some form of ATD.

I know a fair amount about finasteride, so I'll try to answer your questions. I take 7.5mg ED. But my test level is over 3000 :-)
 
DHT is the most potent androgenic substance in the body (far more androgenic than testosterone), and it is partially responsible for sexual performance. your DHT levels are at the absolute bottom of the acceptable range, i highly doubt its enough.

other than that, CEDeoudes is correct. if you dont have an acceptable test-estrogen ratio, forget about getting erections. i would stop the finastride completely and use a SERM like chlomid or toremifene, that should have you kickin within a week.
 
Cedoudes - 7.5mg a day?? Thats hard core. Im not sure about the T to E ratio, i know that the E is not high though.

Jomi - I agree, i think its more to do with a lack of DHT, but how do i get that level back up again? Any ideas? Colomid sounds like the best idea to me to get the production happening more, but then my total T is mid range? Do you know if there is a form of DHT you can administer like Testosterone?
 
Hey I am in this situation too, I stopped taking finasteride 6 months ago but my sex drive is still super low. I rarley look up porn or think of sex any more? Can anyone help
