Passchendaele - The Bloodiest Aniversary

  1. Post Passchendaele - The Bloodiest Aniversary

Hell on Earth: The never before seen colour photographs of the bloody battle of Passchendaele | the Daily Mail

This is where over 250,000 allied troops were killed during WWI in Belgium between July and November 1917.

The average death toll was over 2,100 soldiers a day !

  2. I saw these in the Mail; great pics. We're a lucky generation, that's for sure.

  3. Life in those trenches had to be the closest thing to hell on Earth imaginable. I've read lots of accounts and they're all just pure misery.

  4. The battle of Ypres was bad too IIRC. The British frequently refer to the two as "Passiondale" and "Wipers".
