Some people's mind is so open, that it has fallen off. But that would never happen to you. Yours is totally closed to scientific evidence as well as logic.

3. Having said that, I like you, and thus I have a special offer for you. My uncle has a beach front property in Iowa. You see, the men-in-black are trying to steal it from him. So he has an urgent need to sell and disappear. Afterall, who would understand these men-in-black conspiracy by the government to oppress us, but someone like you? So, how about it? Special deal for you. While we are on the subject, my cousin is selling the Brooklyn Bridge at bargain basement price. It seems that the G-men are at persecuting him on the east coast. So, what do you say? Fire sale, just for you!

4. Yeah right. Some numbnut 'wholesaler' in Texas wanna pay 2X for some damn phones he can get for half at WalMart. Does jetfuel fume cause brain damage?

Whatever. Reread my post. I never said they were innocent OR guilty. The problem I have is the way the men were arrested as terrorists, on 2 pieces of evidence- buying cell phones, and having airline info in the car. That does not make a person a terrorist. As I said, I have seen PLENTY of these prepaid cellphones bought and resold by someone trying to make an easy buck. Maybe if you could pull your head out of Bush's butt for a sec and look around some of the crappier neighborhoods you would see the same type of scams being run on people. Some of the people there have crappy credit and couldn't afford the deposit on a mainstream cell, that's why there is that type of market for them. So paying 38.00 for a 20.00 phone (that is what they were bought/sold for) is better than a 400.00 deposit to verizon or sprint etc. I have airline flight info in my car right now from recently flying. If I went out tonight and tried to by a bunch of cell phones to resell them, I could apparently be arrested as a terrorist. Yes that bothers me. The word "terrorist" is becoming synonymous with "wecandowhateverthe****wewantscrewthebillofrig hts" by the government. What SHOULD be protected in this country is our bill of rights, personal rights and freedoms. As I said earlier, if more evidence comes out against the men, great. But what IF they were telling the the truth, and just intending to rip people off, not blow them up? They are still Americans, regardless of race or religion and should have the same rights as everyone not wearing a towel on their head.(excuse the stereotyping)

And yeah I am open minded. As for your 9/11 comments, and your scientific evidence comments, questioning your governments prior knowledge of a tragedy and ignored documented warnings, does not make one a crackpot.

But we did fake the moon landing

Your willingness to accept the most bizzare excuses is overwhelming. And your willingness to overlook scientific evidence is equally overwhelming.

I think even if 1000 cell phones got turned into 1000 bombs and were actually detonated and killed 10's of thousands of people, chances are, you would think it has nothing to do with terrorism and would call it an inside job by the men-in-black who are out to steal your rights. Why not? after all, 911 was pulled by the G-men, according to you. So that wouldn't be that farfetched, in your book, would it?

I don't know what you currently do for a living, my friend. But you are missing your calling. Think Hollywood, Jarhead!! Fame and fortune awaits you, not to mention the chicks dig a shaven head on a hunk's bod!! lol

Yea I guess you do want me to butt out. Sure thing bud, next time I try to agree with you or anybody else in the political topic board I will make sure I have long history of "chatting" with them first. Oh but feel free to respond to any of my comments by telling me I don't know what I am talking about and then not expect me to have any rebuttal.
Your talk of rational discourse is comical though, judging from your responses, "left wing extremist and crackpot", "take off your Mad Howl' Dean glasses", "Stop spilling your venon ", by the way it's venom. I figured I owed you one for pointing out my spelling error earlier. This one is my favorite "I love how you and your cohorts can talk about wanting a rational discourse while at the same time conducting the worst and dirtiest demonizing tactics that you copied from the play books of the former KGB sponsored international left wing extremists".Ok that's all for now I am afraid me and BIO have gone back and forth enough and it got ugly fast plus appears his blood is boiling at the moment. I dont want you to hurt your self brother.
Don't flatter yourself. Most of the people here know more about politics than you assume you do. Read and learn before you enlighten us with your grand wisdom.

The rule is very simple. You reap what you sow. You throw labels around. Labels got thrown right back at you. Cause and effect. Nothing to it.

What are you talking about dude? I never threw any label around. I was making a point. Do you feel like our conservative administration is truly conservative? If so, give me a solid example. That's the point that I was making. I'm not very impressed with the way the last 4 years or so have been going. Granted, I would still prefer things to have turned out the way that they have over say a Kerry administration or Gore administration being voted into office. However, I'm just not impressed. This administration, in my opinion, is far from conservative. This is politics though I'm afraid. It's the nature of the beast. Lighten up a bit Bio.

I don't know what you currently do for a living, my friend. But you are missing your calling. Think Hollywood, Jarhead!! Fame and fortune awaits you, not to mention the chicks dig a shaven head on a hunk's bod!! lol

This is not about bizarre excuses or scientific evidence, and I don't know why you insist on taking it there. You apparantly have never heard of the bill of rights or any of the other things that protect our rights as citizens. And you can stow the 9/11 talk because that's not exactly what I think. These guys were initially charged with money laundering. They were not caught or being investigated by the FBI for terrorism. They were caught by a clerk at walmart. They were not under ANY suspicion of being terrorists. Can cellphones be used for ied's? Of course, but that's not the point. Can you HONESTLY say we would even be talking about this if the men arrested were not arab american?

My whole point is, they were caught for buying cellphones and charged as terrorists. THERE WAS NO OTHER EVIDENCE. It is unacceptable for this to happen in AMERICA. We have something called the burden of proof. If they were white males, or black males this would not have happened. And if you read more about this story, they stood to make $18,000 selling these phones in a texas town (where they were from) where they were currently sold out. People do this crap all the time. It is not uncommon. Here are a few quotes from a news story that might help explain to you why there story is not that farfetched:
As for why these men were buying cell phones, it is apparent that they were buying those special pre-paid cell phones that are locked into a pre-paid network. These phones are sold below cost because the companies make back their money by selling the MINUTES. (Give away the razors, sell the blades.) Recently, companies have found out how to unlock these cell phones to work with standard cellular networks. Thus, with a little work, a very cheap cell phone can be turned into a regular cell phone. There, apparently, is some good money in this. This also explains pockets in the story, like Wal-Mart trying to enforce a vendor's desire that no more then three be sold to a person.

To arrest someone for terrorism for buying cell phones is wrong. You need more evidence. That's the way things are supposed to work in this country. What if they are completely being honest?

That seems like a plausable explanation for a series of events that were motivated by profit and opportunity. That sounds like the free enterprise that people use to become successful in a capitalist society as granted by the Declaration of Independence

Didn't there used to be this thing where they would say... ...something like you are presumed innocent until proven guilty?

That was this country, right?

It does sound a little risky and it does require some level of trust in complete strangers,...but I think that's why they used to call it democracy!

The pieces you are missing:

"....Stevenson said the men went to a 24-hour Wal-Mart store in Caro early Friday and bought the cell phones despite a store policy limiting customers to three phones per purchase. A Wal-Mart clerk who thought the purchases were suspicious alerted police.

''They target these stores late, in the morning, hoping to get an inexperienced clerk,'' Stevenson said..."

"...Wal-Mart has an agreement with cell phone manufactures to enforce a limit of three cell phones per purchase, said John Simley, a spokesman for Wal-Mart Stores Inc. in Bentonville, Ark....."

The policy isn't "Call the cops if you have Arab looking males buying more than 3 cellphones at a time." So, your racial profiling accusation has just gone

Why do you think good ol Wal Mart has "an agreement with cell phone manufactures to enforce a limit of three cell phones per purchase"?

Could it be Wal Mart is out to steal your rights, jarhead? Or is it the cell phone manufacturers who want to steal your rights?

If 3 Arabs bought 3 tons of Ammonium Nitrate, got floor plans of the Sears tower and rented a Budget truck. What da ya think? Exercising their rights?
