Well everyone who has lupus is different, meaning it comes out in different ways.....Mine so far is the lovely face rash and joint damage as well as being very sensitive to light, foods, being tired, and really just cant get out of my own way somedays.........There are days I am so tired I literally sit and cry because it hurts to move, and all i want to do is sleep the day away........My lupus dr told me that by going on prednosone it would "help" but i find it annoying and troubling.......Not only do I have this freaking pouch but i eat all the time, I feel like a house ( mental I know) but still that feeling........and prednosone is "masking" my issues...not solving them.....I do know what my dr wanted to do by having me start prednosone but i am still troubled by it......I havent been able to taper down past 55mg, and its been about a month now......I started at 75mg....I personally know people who are on high dosages for life, or yrs...and I wont be that person........
Even my coaching for the special olympics, all my charity work has had to take a back seat, and the weeks I do feel better, the next week I am on my ass for most of it.......its def draining........
Bulking? Cutting? how the heck would I do that because i actually thought of it myself but never in my life would I ever thought i might bulk.......I always thought, lean ( I used to be a house)............

Wow lupus sounds really bad. How long have you had it? Hopefully it goes into remission.

I wouldn't go so far as to bulk up. I think the healthier way is to gain lean body mass while dropping bodyfat at the same time. If you eat right, and get your protein. Lift weights moderately, and do moderate cardio, it can be done. Sometimes less is more.

At her body weight and bf% with good conditioning it'd be near impossible to gain lean mass and lose fat at the same time. Not that she seems to have any to lose which is the problem witht hat approach for skinny people. A super clean diet above maintainance will pack on some mass for her.

I am trying to eat damn near perfect, and it stinks.......i do have a pouch, and I know its water from the prednosone...nothing can get rid of that till I am off it and who knows when the heck that will be if ever........

warrior way, I was diagnosed last yr with lupus.........so I have only known for a few months I had it, and now i am trying to learn how to deal with it........

My mother-in-law has Lupus also. She has been on prednosone for years and when her insurance changed, they made her change doctors, to one that is not a Rhumetologist (sp) which her old doc was. The new one wanted to wean her of the prednosone and lowered her dosage. She ended up in the hospital and called her old doc who raised her dosage back up. After being on prednosone for so long, he said you can't even be weaned off. Prednosone is a steroid and I guess when your body is shut down for so long, it will never recover to where you can get along without the prednosone.
