1930's YORK Barbell Plates- Loling for info

I found these items and I'm trying to get more info on them. I know they are the first plates made by YORK in the 1930's. I'm trying to find out why as 45lb plates they have a "50" engraved on them. And also any other information about them. Thanks all.

If a plate has a 50 on it, I assume it's a 50. They made those. Have you weighed it?
