Post-thyroid removal diet/exercise

I am wondering if anyone on this board has any experience with this. My wife, age 42, is about 7 weeks out of having her thyroid removed. She is currently on .175mg of synthroid ED. She is starting to have some weight gain and lethargy issues. She was extremely hyperthyroid presurgury and was actually gaining weight in that state. Even though she has been doing daily cardio and has started some light weight training, the weight gain is concerning. To me, she appears to have drooped a few pounds, based on what i see. She is more wooried about what the scale says. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks
