How much milk do you drink daily/weekly?

I weigh 170lbs (bf=14%) and I go through at least 2 gallons a week of fat free milk. I make 1-2 shakes a day, I also eat cereal and drink a glass or 2 for dinner or at night. How much do you guys weigh and how much do you drink on an average day? Because of the sugar do you think I should cut back? I usually drink at least 2 servings every time I drink it.

I usually drink about 1.5 gallons a week usually in cereals. I should mention the milk I drink has 14g of protein and only 4g of carbs per 8 oz.

FYI: If any one has a thick coating on their tongue when they wake up in the morning. You shouldn't drink milk at all.

It is only in TX as far as I know. There is a grocery store chain that makes a product called Mootopia with the aforementioned macros.

Dairy is hard to digest, even low fat or lactaid. Thick coating means that the stomach is not processing thoroughly and in return the fluids get deposited on your tongue. Usually accompanied by poor digestion, heavy or bloated feeling. People who have no coating on their tongue benifit more from drinking dairy.

thanks - that's good info.

if one finds themselves in this predicament even without milk - do digestive enzymes help?

Digestive enzymes help, but they make your stomach lazy. For example..If you take enzymes with every meal your stoamch will stop or slow the production of enzymes. You get shut down just like taking hormones. If you continue to take enzymes you can develope a dependency on them. My advice is do not take them unless you need them and if you do limit the amount to once a day. The evening is the best time because your digestion is strongest in the morning and it gets worse as the day goes on. Because I am an Acupuncturist and (chinese herbalist) I will recommend getting some treatment for your digestion.

how long does it take for your stomach to get 'lazy'? i plan on taking some digestive enzymes in a cycle pretty soon.

Stomach "shut down" happens at different times for different people. Just like some may get shut down from PH/PS sooner than others. If you already have low enzymes than it could be faster than people with strong stomachs.
Vision why are you planning to take enzymes? Do you have trouble with your digestion? We can start another thread on digestion as not to jack this one on milk consumption.

After some workouts I eat a lot and I use vanadyl to help with digestion if I know I'm going to eat a high carb meal. My cycle is going to include AP so I'm staying away from insulin mimickers so I threw in a bottle of Super Enzymes for when I eat large meals after my workouts.

Just to note, I never took more than 10mg of vanadyl daily and really don't use it on a daily basis, only when I eat very high carb meals or meals close together. I plan on using the enzymes in a similar fashion since I'll be bulking and consuming a lot of calories.

I'm not sure but I dont think Vanadyl helps digestion but helps what has already been digested get into the muscles faster.
If you get gas, cramping or bloating after eating then you could take your enzymes. Insted of taking enzymes I would try different carbs that do not bother your stomach. I.E. instead of pasta eat rice or potatos. Remember that eating more than your body can handle with or without enzymes will be stored as fat.

yes after my PWO shake i take a vanadyl and then i eat another meal about 1 hour afterwards. as far as gas sometimes i take in too much protein at one time when i'm bulking but i'm correcting that. thanks for your replies they were helpful!

Wow, I am surprised at how much milk everyone drinks. I usually just drink like 1/2 gal a week, but I am going to try upping it to one gallon a week just because it seems like all the cool kids are doing it!

Wow..I'd be fat as hell..too much sugar..I get my dairy from low fat cottage cheese, cheese, and milk in my shakes..
I love when people attribute fat gain to a single culprit...such as milk sugar...This is where sugars/carbs get a bad rap..from all the here say and fad diets. The growth factors, transporter for IGF, and steady flow of casien is enough for me to enjoy roughly 32oz. of milk daily.

BTW..I suggest you buy Alan's new book and you wouldn't make the blanket statement that milk would be the sole suspect of fat gain.

LOL, I don't need a book to tell me that taking in 384 grams of sugar in one day from one single food source won't make me fat. Thanks anyway...

Not altogether true - as long as your body continues to produce lactase, which is the case for many, if not most people in NA and Europe, you will have no problem digesting milk.

Digestive problems in general are most often caused by low stomach acid and/or too much bad bacteria in the stomach.

Lactase only digests the sugar portion of milk (lactose). To digest milk proteins you need "chymosin" and some other enzymes which reduce as we age. Some dont have any at all. In fact studies have been shown that only Blood type "B" continue to be able to digest dairy to its fullest. As far as proteins are concerned we can digest fish, meats and eggs better than milk products. All the milk protein powders have been altered or pre-digested to make them easy to assimilate. Yogurts and cheese are also easyier to digest because of some processing. I not saying not to drink milk. But be aware of your body and reactions to what we put in it. If you have digestive issues like gas, bloating constipation or loose stools than your body is not assimilating your foods correctly.

that's exactly what happened when I went on my detox. Stool returned to firm, no bloating and zero gas. It was amazing, but I can't eat that way forever.

Milk definitely has its place in a diet. I limit my intake during cutting being the super-endo I am I have to really watch sugar intake as I'm VERY carb sensitive. I use it in my pwo shakes and in my morning oats and thats about it during cutting season.

I found the milk on the net, The store in my city, but I want to know what are the ingrediants? did they add abunch of crap to it that is really not good for you? I can't drink milk and I won't let my kids drink it unless it is organic, don't want daughter to develop too early:duel:
