I personally like steel cut oats from my local health food store. I like them better than rolled oats.

Oats is oats. They have no added sugar. That is unless of course you buy instant flavored crap.

Quaker Oats (rolled oats)
1/2 cup serving (dry)
27g carbs
4g fiber
-2g soluable
-2g insoluable
1g sugars

If you want to save some money, head to Costco or Sam's Club and buy the 9 pound box of Quaker oats. If I'm not mistaken the box is around 10 bucks or so.

Make sure you buy the old fashioned type, not the 1 minute instant. They have a lower GI and thus give you less of an insulin spike.
They may not taste as good, but better for slow release.

A strong example of how one's careful research (reading the side of the container) can yield tremendous amounts of valuable information!!!

Taste is okay by itself. I just mix in a pack of splenda and it tastes much better.

I believe most serving sizes for oats are 1/2 cup dry.

Quaker makes a new Weight Control Oatmeal. It is flavored, and has about 7g fiber. Good stuff.

My post above doesnt seem to make too much sense.

rolled oats @ 1/2 cup dry = 140-150kcals

steelcut @ 1/4 cup dry = 150 kcals

organic oat bran (website I listed above) @ 1/3 cup dry= 130 kcals

There...that is a little easier to understand..!
