3 days ago my neighbor had a stroke. However, he is known by high cholesterol for the last 5 years. Now he is recovering but this got me thinking about this relation and what is that dangerous cholesterol limit so you can say that "you are safe below that line"

Age, Race, Gender, and diet all influence the "recommended" level you are to be at. Your activity level, ?SMOKING Habits?, and family history factor in as well. Best way to know for sure, see your doctor.

Being overweight is a far greater concern that high cholesterol; or even in fact consuming a high carb diet when you exercise very little. High carb diets and being overweight mean an increase of triglycerides in the blood. These "push" down the LDL particle size which makes it easier for them to enter the endothelium of the arteries and form plaque.

These studies show that reducing carbs positively impacts lipid profiles: http://jn.nutrition.org/content/136/2/384.long and http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16685042

This study shows why LDL-p (particle size) is a better indicator of heart disease than than C which is often tested for: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19657464

Link between LDL-p and triglyceride levels: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1420088

This link shows that total cholesterol between 210 - 220 appears to be better for overall health provided LDL particle sizes are large http://perfecthealthdiet.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/O-Primitivo-Cholesterol.jpg

there is a lot of new research showing that ketones may be the next frontier of dementia and Alzheimer's disease treatments.
MCT and coconut oil offer many great benefits and go hand in hand with what Jiggs has posted.
I would recommend mint infused fish oil and heart help along with a lower carb approach to help thwart these issues as much as naturally possible.
