some quick questions

  1. some quick questions

i am currently cutting and trying to maintain as much muscle as possible. after weight training, should I drink a shake first thing THEN do my cardio? or do my weights, cardio, then drink my shake. i know cardio is very catabolic and thats not what im trying to do right now. would drinking my shake between weights and cardio help me stay anabolic and still burn as much fat? thank you

  2. I always drink some x-tend (2scoops)do my cardio and down my shake about 45min later.
Guess it depends on the cardio too.

I do hiit for around 20min (hill sprints,prowler,sled-drags,ect)then run for 10-15min to cooldown. My focus is on conditioning so i lift hard and fast resting 45sec and don't stop until finished.

If your only doing a 20min run at 6-8mph i'd lift do the cardio and slam your shake.

ANY exercise can be catabolic if done for long enough or intensely enough without the adequate nutrition - not just cardio, and resistance training is far more catabolic than cardio.

Whether you have your shake immediately after your weights is wait until after cardio is not going to make a difference, honestly - so long as your nutrition throughout the day is on target for fat loss for you, then you should be able to maintain your current muscle mass and lose bodyfat.
