    How much protein do I need? Diet Advice Needed


    I am currently 245 (down 20lbs since Dec).

    I do not want to lose muscle while I am losing weight so if someone can tell me just how much protein I need to keep lean muscle (if I have any lol)

    I have read that .8 grams per kilogram of body weight is enough.. But what If I want to burn fat and develop lean muscle at the same time?

    I need to lose 65 - 70lbs. I need just lose the belly, and fat around my chest and thighs and would like to lower my BF%. My total calorie intake is closely watched with home cooked meals and does not exceed 1400 cal per day.

    My diet includes egg whites, lean meats, brown rice, steamed veggies, low carb breads such as Healthy Life, Oatmeal, Some fruit and alot of water.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    ^^^ that's a good article to read.

    When in doubt, a good rule of thumb is to eat at least 1g of protein per pound of bodyweight.
