brown rice syrup need help

so ive been looking at Rice Dream drink and also clif shots, both are basically 100% brown rice syrup, yet the rice drink has sugars, 11g per 33g carbs....

does anyone know the GI of brown rice syrup? and if i should use it as a good slow carb source?

The GI of brown rice syrup is ~25. Personally, I would not use it (or any "sugar" drink) as a slow carbohydrate source - if you want a low GI carbohydrate source, stick to COMPLEX carbohydrates or something like that, but that's just my opinion.

well if its 25 then its much lower than say wheat bread or wheat pasta, and it makes for easy shakes, any reason not to?

Completely DIFFERENT carbohydrates altogether - as a nutrition major you should know that! It's like comparing apples and bananas. And GI is not everything when it comes to food. You should know that as well.

i do unerstand and trust me, that **** doesnt stick around very long! itd be great for bulking clean, low GI but does not satisfy the hunger for very long at all.....

trust me rosie if i had the dedication and appetite i would eat ALL whole food, but as it is at the moment work, school, and appetite are in my way :)

and ya i do understand the difference between complex carbs with low GI and quick carbs with LOW GI.... i.e. Brown Rice (grain) vs Brown Rice syrup (liquid)
the rice will digest MUCH MUCH MUCH slower although the GI on both are under 50, very different animals, kinda like Fructose VS High Fructose Corn syrup ;)
