Going food shopping tomorrow and need a bit of help.

Well that doctor says im a fat @#$ . I have tried dieting before and I fell off the wagon. I tried BOBOs plan and fell off that too. But I think I am ready to give it another go.

Current stats

33 yo
5 foot 7
219 lbs

Thats about all I know. I am currently taking 2 medications for high blood pressure. Dont know if thats helpful to anyone.

I would like to get down to 180s and go from there.

So what should I be buying to reach that goal? I know the basics. Chicken, eggs, Broccolli (mmmmm broccolli) Tuna, etc. The hard part for me is putting it all together. Should I have some whey protein in there or anything else?

If there is anyone out there who can help me get it together it would be a big help.

Thanks a bunch.

Do you currently have a lifting routine? Lean mass can help you lose some bodyfat.

No lifting routine. To this day the gym intimidates me. But the condo complex i live in has a small gym that nobody ever uses. and its about 30 steps from my door. So there is no excuse for me to not get in there

Start with some time on the elliptical.. My mom lost a lot of weight.. She just watched tv and went away on her workout.. But I have to agree with lifting for lean mass.. It will help a lot.. Just watch what you eat and start eating 6 small meals a day.. Substitute unhealthy snacks for healthy ones.. It sounds like a lot but with common sense and research you can do it.. I was 5' 10" and 230 pounds.. I dropped over 60 pounds of fat in less then a year... You can do it with motivation.. Let me know if you need any help..

Almonds, bananas, apples and blue berries.. Chicken, Fish, turkey. Whole wheat bread.

I'm not going to say Whey is useless if you don't hit up the gym... but it's value is really added post workout for the quick protein absorption. If you're planning on being sedentary, I'd just keep the meals small and frequent for now... then when you get the urge to go to the gym, start supplementing with whey slowly. Whey is also a great breakfast on the go - you can add carbs and fruits as needed depending on your activity level.

What did your final list look like? I have a hard time choking down tuna - its defintely not one of my staples.

One of the guys I work with is the same way.. He hates the taste of tuna but he eats it anyway just before he leaves work for the gym.. He takes a bite of tuna then a big gulp of water.. Its almost like he is taking tuna pills how it does it..

Yeah, its not even that I hate it... Its jus that I prefer other meats I guess. I find it kind of boring. I like it with mustard and mayo - but then its just not as healthy anymore. That and the whole mercury thing.

My mom bought me some 6 dollar a can tuna, and it tasted a lot better. Young tuna, no salt, no water added - and low mercury... but I'd still rather have a chicken breast or a pbnj w/ a whey shake.

Albacore is way tastier, but has more mercury.

I like the cheap tuna too.. A can of tuna I have is 15 gm of protein per serving and 1 can is 2.5 servings.. Its good stuff.. You can always cycle through your meals..

By the way PBNJ is my favorite.. instead of having a shake with mine, I mix choc. whey protein with it and it tastes amazing.. Try it with some choc designer whey and a serving of some non-flavored BCAA powder.. Don't knock it till you try it..

Haha, I used to put powder in it, but I couldn't smash enough in to make it worthwhile without feeling like I was biting into a baby powder sandwhich. I like the shake on the side - cause its kinda like a glass of milk...
