This reminded me of the year I went to see 'Misery' on X-mas day. There is nothing so completely freeing, yet so utterly depressing, as going to the movies on X-mas day.

There is a combination of affirmation of your freedom from artificial societal determinations of what "holiday" should be and when, and yet residual yearnings from childhood.
