| Registered User | Just a few questions on Poseidon I've read both the stickies and didn't see these two addressed fully to my curiosity. 1. I understand the addition of Mag because it is a great mineral, but why so much of it? 150mg seems like a lot if someone takes this product throughout the day. 600mg for just 4 doses; and many use 6-8 I'm seeing. Is there a reason for not using a smaller amount of mag? 2. I read a lot that copper should be taken along with zinc because the zinc will displace copper in the body. So what do you think of this as relates to your product? I've done a lot of reading about Poseidon here and it seems like a great product that I will have to try next month when my budget allows. I just have curiosity over a few things. |

| Nimbus Nutrition Board Rep Board Sponsor | Good questions saludable24, The amount of Mag used is all correlated to elemental magnesium bioavailability. Oral mag supps are produced in the form of mag with the addition of some type of salt. This salt addition greatly effects oral bioavailibility as well as the amount of total "elemental" magnesium you are actually recieving. So in short, absorption and actual mag content are the critical factors in the mag content of Posiedon. As for zinc and copper, the levels of zinc intake found to cause a slight copper displacement is around 60mg per day, well below the serving recommendations provided by Poseidon. So I think your good to go. Hope this helps. <---Nothing can kill The Grimace! Nimbus Nutrition Rep To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 0 or greater. | Registered User | So, there are 150mgs of magnesium (elemental, not counting the salts) per serving, but not all of it is as bioavailable as some depending on the specific chemical it is bonded to? If that is the case, why not use the most bio-available source instead of the 3(2?) that are included in Poseidon? Cost, or is there somehting interesting about how the body uses these different forms despite their bioavailability? I just wonder about mineral saturation really. Right now I occasinally take green-mag creatine, but also take NOW's 400mg mag-citrate with their opti-L-zinc 30mg zinc w/ 250mcg copper every night. I like this combo better than ZMA for my personal needs. I can see replacing my B-complex mid-day with poseidon, but am not completely sold on the idea of using it before bed. But depending on how next month goes for me financially, I will put it to a fair test and change my supplementation to really see. All of these supplements and the science behind them intrigue me very much. Thanks for the info guys. Quote:

| Nimbus Nutrition Board Rep Board Sponsor | Clinically their have been several studies done with the various forms of magnesium. Some for treatment of dyspesia, rheumatism, gout, hyperacidity, and ulcers. The science behind the differing forms really hasn't been illucidated as of yet and primarily all of them are attributed to the same health benefits. It's all about health, hydration, energy production, conduction of nerve impulses and muscle contraction as far as Poseidon is concerned. That being said the cost and bioavailability all come into play with the formulation as we want to make a product that works, yet doesn't create a abyss that was other wise known as your wallet. When you change your supplementation around and give Poseidon a try defenitely let us know what you think about it. <---Nothing can kill The Grimace!
