Are the values on poseidon's label listed by elemental weight?

for example, does 1 teaspoon give me 350mg of elemental potassium?

Hello RexGrandis,

Yes...the TOTAL potassium, from all sources, is 350 mgs per serving of Poseidon. The same is true with the TOTAL magnesium, ect...

Hi again,

Can you tell me if all the nutrients in poseidon are completely absorbed?

It is said that only 99g of potassium can be absorbed by the body from supplementation. Does this hold true for Poseidon also? If not, can you provide proof?

cheers.

Hello RexGrandis...thanks for your question.

Your body can most certainly absorb more than 99 MG (not grams as I think you may have just misspelled above) of potassium at one time. In fact, many Body Builders use potassium loading to lean up for a show a few days prior... taking SUPPLEMENTAL doses of up to 6 grams per day! While I don't recommend this, it helps me make my point.

Even a medium baked potato has about 700 mgs of potassium in it. You may find this little article interesting:
No Bananas: Potassium Is Important

We are, for the most part anyway, potassium deficient if anything IMHO.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi workin, I am aware that the body can absorb more than 99mg of potassium from food, but I read that from supplementation, for one reason or another that only 99mg can be absorbed.

And I am very aware of the importance of potassium and it's defficiency in regular diets, that's why all my questions have been in reference to it

Supplemental K absorbs just as well as natural K, as it's all the exact same chemical makeup that enables the body to recognize and absorb.

And they are very good questions RexGrandis. Ones that I'm sure others have if you do, so I welcome them and thank you for posting!

I think I was confused about the 99mg. Apparently the FDA or someone mandated that only 99mg of potassium can be dosed by supplementation because any more than that of such a concentrated source of K leads to stomach discomfort, nausea etc. Don't think it has anything to do with absorption.

That's the beauty of having a drink mix, which isn't as concentrated per dose as a pill form of K. It takes out the GI stress people may see with it's supplementation otherwise.

Precisely,

In fact, one Poseidon user just reported taking 4...YES...4 servings of Poseidon all at once with NO stomach discomfort. While I don't recommend this to most, I think it speaks very highly of its absorption rate.

Again, all great questions RexGrandis! Thanks for asking and giving us the chance to respond!

A brave soul! Here's what he had to say in this thread:
BiO gets Poseidonized

"Also..I have not had any niacin flushing until today and it was very very mild. Had to think of a reason why I was slightly red in the face lol.
I have taken as many as 4 doses all at once with ZERO gastro issues which says a lot about the absorbability of this mix."
