LAS VEGAS – After a star-studded 2007 in Las Vegas that saw the crowning of new champions, the emergence of new ones, and a continuation of the high-octane action that has become a trademark of the organization, World Extreme Cagefighting® (WEC™) will take its show on the road Wednesday, February 13 with a championship tripleheader that is sure to pack the Santa Ana Star Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
In the main event, Albuquerque's own "Natural Born Killer", Carlos Condit, looks to defend his WEC Welterweight title and avenge a previous defeat in the same night as he takes on Carlo Prater. Also in action will be "Razor" Rob McCullough, who defends his WEC Lightweight crown against rising star Jamie Varner, and the 135-pound iron man, WEC Bantamweight Champion Chase Beebe, who will put his belt on the line against Jiu-Jitsu ace Miguel Torres.
WEC: Condit vs. Prater will be televised live nationally on VERSUS beginning at 9:00 pm ET/6:00 pm PT. All live WEC events will be presented in Hi-Definition (HD) where available. For more information and how to find VERSUS in your local viewing area, visit http://www.versus.com/findversus.
Tickets for WEC: Condit vs. Prater go on sale Saturday, January 12 at noon and are priced at $185, $115, $65, and $35 (not including applicable services or taxes). Tickets are available at Gettix.net, by calling 1-866-442-8849, at the Santa Ana Star Center box office, at the Santa Ana Star Casino Player's Club, and select Ace Hardware locations. Tickets also are available online through WEC | World Extreme Cagefighting.
One of the best 170-pound fighters on the planet, Carlos Condit, will defend his title against Carlo Prater in what many are calling one of the best matchups in the history of the WEC.
Following his dominating first round submission win over Brock Larson in August, Condit (21-4) is eager to get back into action against Prater, who handed him his first pro loss in 2004 in front of his hometown crowd. Condit is looking forward to avenging that loss and continuing to add to his already impressive resume, and if he can do it in front of his hometown fans for the first time in over two and a half years, the victory will be even sweeter.
Prater (21-5-1) is an explosive fighter who has taken on and beaten many of the top fighters in the sport today. Currently riding a three fight winning steak, this Texan has one thing on his mind on February 13th and that's walking away with the WEC Welterweight title.
In another exciting title fight, "Razor" Rob McCullough (15-3) is back in action after his stirring TKO win over Richard Crunkilton in September, where he proved why he should be considered one of the top lightweights in MMA. And while McCullough's vicious striking has stopped many opponents in the past, he will be thoroughly tested by young gun Jamie Varner (13-2, 1 NC), a UFC® veteran who made an immediate impact in the WEC with his win over Sherron Leggett.
The bantamweight division has earned a reputation for fast-paced and action packed fights. On February 13th, MMA fans will be treated to the best fight in the division's history. Defending champion Chase Beebe (13-1) will take on one of the pound for pound best fighters in the sport, Miguel Torres. Beebe captured the WEC title with an impressive win over Eddie Wineland in March of 2007, and he continued his domination with a win over grappling sensation Rani Yahya. Miguel Torres (19-1) may be Beebe's toughest challenge yet though. A native of East Chicago, Indiana, Torres has taken on all comers, earning a reputation along the way as a premier battler with a bright future. Will that future include a WEC title? We'll find out next month.
The remaining bouts for WEC: Condit vs. Prater will be announced in the near future. All bouts subject to change. For more information about WEC: Condit vs. Prater and current WEC fight news, visit WEC | World Extreme Cagefighting.

I heard that Hominick is also on the card, taking on Josh Grispi. Grispi is another great Boston fighter. There are tons of great fighters at 145 in the Mass MMA scene, and Grispi appears to be the best of them. He's only about 19. This will be his first test against the next level of competition. I can't wait to how he does. Hopefully it will be televised.

Looking forward to Varner/McCullough. Varner is a bit of an animal. I think he'll overwhelm McCullough, but I picked Crunkilton against McCullough too.
