Brock Lesnar In UFC!!!
Lesnar was officially announced as a new UFC signing tonight!
I know this guy is constantly bashed as a WWE freak, sideshow blah blah, but he is now the most athletic guy in the UFC HW division. This guy is from my state, went to my college and I watched him wrestle since I was in high school. This guy was a freak in NCAA wrestling. He quit pro wrestling and walked away from a ****load of money to get some real competition in the NFL. He had NFL vetrans in awe of his athleticism. He has trained for about 2 years now and is very serious about MMA. This guy is loaded and didnt have to do anything else in life, but he chose to train and join the UFC. Whats not to like about this guy besides the tattoo on his chest? Enough of my rant... WAR BROCK!

i'll take him to the curb anyday!...............The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.-Psalm 18:2

He gets a lot of slack for being a WWE guy, but he has the tools and work ethic to be the real deal. I am a little worried, though, that his career will be a lttle rushed. He's got tons of potential, but he's still new to the game.

I think he has a ridiculous amount of potential. With that being said however, I would agree his career should not be rushed. Regardless of his athleticism he may not be battle-ready.

If I were a middle of the road UFC HW fighter I would be sh*tting my pants right about now. The top tier HW's have a little bit of time before they begin to soil there pants. He's a dominant guy, I just wonder how he'll respond to being in bad positions. Scary guy, we'll see if he meets his potential.

Norris, I don't think I've ever read a positive post from you before. Anywho, they should give him McCully, Hardonk, Eddie Sanchez,... for a while so that he gets some experience.

Lesnar is a gifted athlete and he has tremendous potential. With that and his wrestling pedigree, he should ascend to the top of the UFC, but, with MMA, you never know how well someone will do.

he has all the potential in the world, but that doesnt mean anything. Lets see him get hit first. A Hardonk or Herring might be interesting for him

its good news. id love to see him in the octagon. I want to see how he strikes. He definately has the size and strength to compete with the HWs.
10-21-2007, 10:11 AM
WHen he was at MFS, Militech said that he has the potential to be the best HW and very quickly. Kinda curious who his first fight will be. I really think Herring is the best "named" opponent for him

Brock has the potential no doubt, but if he fights one of the top five guys first I think he is going to be in for a rude awakening.

Its funny when I hear people talking about this at my work. They think just because Brock came from pro wrestling, he is going to get killed in MMA. They don't really realize that aggression, athleticism, heart, brains, and ability to learn all play a part in a good fighter.
When they say Brock is going to get crushed because he is a pro wrestler, I always say "I guess you've never heard the name Sakuraba before?" Its funny how many blank expressions I get after that. At that point I usually reply "google the name biotch".

-Brock Lesnar wrestled and was 2-Time All-American, 2-time Big Ten Champion, National Junior College Athletic Association Champion, '99 NCAA runner-up (285lb limit), '00 NCAA Champ over Wes Hand.
-Lesnar weighed about 260-270lbs during his 2000 NCAA Championship season. He weighed 245-250 during his '99 run.
-Lesnar has been accused of roids since his Junior College days in North Dakota until his 2000 NCAA Championship run. Has always come out clean.
-Lesnar graduated with a degree in accounting and was offered a $125,000 1-year developmental contract in the spring of 2001 which he accepted (after intially declining one in the summer of '00). MMA was nowhere to be seen and he was getting a guaranteed $125,000 for a 1-year pro wrestling contract JUST TO LEARN how to do pro wrestling.
-Lesnar weighed about 290-300lbs in the WWE. Lesnar's heaviest weight ever was 306lbs in 2003 after eating at a chinese buffet (according to Lesnar himself) lol.
-In 2002, was offered a $750,000/year for 10 years (guaranteed $1 mil once he becomes champion) contract by the WWE (largest ever for a non-established wrestler ever/ie no previous championships) plus royalties. Lesnar agreed to the contract and later became the youngest WWE champion.
-In 2004, Lesnar asked the WWE to get out of his WWE contract because he was burnt out from travelling 280+ days a year and wanted to stay close to home to spend time with his young daughter. He also stated that he missed "real" competition. The WWE didn't want to but obliged as Lesnar said there's no way he'd see himself keeping up with the pro wrestling lifestyle. He was forced to lose to Goldberg on the way out of the WWE.
-Since Lesnar broke his contract, the WWE had clauses put into his contract saying he couldn't do anything pro wrestling or MMA related in the US. Lesnar agreed just so he could leave.
-Lesnar hadn't played a single down of football since 1996.
-Lesnar tried out for the NFL at the combine in Arizona just a month after a motorcycle accident. Lesnar weighed in at 285lbs. He ran the 40 yard dash in 4.68 secs, incredible for a guy his size and that's faster than what Brian Urlacher ran as a draft prospect the first time. Lesnar had a 35" vertical leap and a 10' broad jump (a jump from a stand still position), to put this number into perspective, 5 prospects from the 2004, 2005, and 2007 draft had a 10' broad jump or more (lineman).
-Lesnar was given a spot on the Kansas City Chiefs squad and the Vikings squad based on pure athleticism and raw talent alone. Lesnar chose the Vikings to be close to home. He made the practice squad and actually saw playing time during 2 preseason games. He was later cut from the Viking's 52 man roster but Tice gave him a spot in NFL Europe but Lesnar declined. He said he wanted to be able to watch his daughter grow up.
-Lesnar then took up a contract with NJPW and became the IWGP champ in Japan and had a lengthy 1 year legal ordeal with the WWE where he struck a deal with the WWE so he could do pro wrestling and or MMA if he wanted.
-2006, Lesnar decides to sign with K-1 Heros in May. Announces it in June. Spent 3 stints at MFS with the last one being a 3 week training session in Iowa in November of 2006. Since then, Lesnar has been training with Greg Nelson's camp, MMAA in Minnesota to stay closer to home. He has also been training with '06-'07 NCAA D-1 Champ, Cole Konrad to keep his wrestling sharp.
-Lesnar now weighs about 268-272lbs. Plans to weigh in at about 270lbs for his fight in June against Hong Man Choi.
-Lesnar has never trained with Royce Gracie. It was part of a promotional ploy to perk people's interest.
-Lesnar spent 3 days in Iowa in 2006 rolling around with just Matt Hughes trying to fend of Matt's JJ.
-Pat Miletich, Greg Nelson, Sean Sherk, and Ben Rothwell have all said that Lesnar's agility and strenth is second to no one they've ever seen or trained with. All have said Lesnar has the ability to be at the very top in the MMA world.
-Lesnar's deal with K-1 is a 1-fight contract worth $500,000 (not sure what his base/fight salary was)

Well it looks like lesner will go on to be #1 HW in the world and Cro Cop will get beat by some no names. This is what MMA has become.
By the way... I wonder how Lesnar will pass the drug test... I mean geez...

Brock Lesnar vs. Kurt Angle, that would be an interesting matchup. I had heard past talks of Angle wanting to make a deal with UFC as well, and potentially fight Brock. Apparently they're really good friends and both said they would love to have the fight. Perhaps somewhere in the near future we'll see it happen.

I'd like to see Lesnar start with Hardonk, then Congo, then Sylvia. I'd LOVE to see Sylvia vs. Lesnar just to see Brock put a good ass kicking on Tim.

to be honest....after looking at Brock he doesn't even look like he is on gear at all. he looks like he has a naturally stacked build, but not gearish at all..
10-23-2007, 07:36 PM
I personally think he would tear Tim apart. Go ahead and flame me but he has size and athleticism on Tim.
I forgot about Nog. Brad Imes...mmmm well i have no idea but if Brock comes in to UFC knowing he is a monster and that alll the haters need to shut up....id hate to see anyone as his first victim..errrr...fight.

My uncle that lives in Minn. has met him and his old wrestling coaches a bunch of times. One of his coaches described how he put on a ton of mass in a few months and was hinting roids but who knows. I posted on here few months ago about how my cousin met him by bringing his dog back to his house when it had run away and Brock was a complete douche. I wish Randy was around to hand this guy an ass whopping.
In closing, if this guy hasn't been on roids then everything I know in the world is a lie....

I agree with BL's potential, for all we know it coul dbe untapped, no pun intended. I would also say that his potential to make the compan a lot of $$$ due to his big name will have the company spoon feeding him fighters until he gets a shot. But this has probably already been said...

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.
There's Brock's first fight in K-1 for those who haven't seen it. Obviously, in such a quick fight against a sub-par opponent it's impossible to make comments on his skill, however he did do some good things in the short time:
1) immediately began to attempt to pass-guard, eventually leading to the full mount
2) created distance, not allowing his opponent to control his posture from the half-guard
3) strikes looked clean and crisp, not too sloppy at all.

I wonder if he is going to keep his WWE monicker, "the next big thing" or does that have WWE TM value?

As much as I like Brock, he needs to get this tattoo modified/covered up Some artists can probably make it look less like a penis and it wont be so bad.

Brad Imes is dissing your boy, Norris.
MMAFightline: You spent a lot of time with Brock Lesnar at Miletich. What where your impressions of him as an MMA fighter?
Brad: I think he's got a lot of potential. His stand up is really kinda nonexistent, but he's obviously a big powerful guy. And his ground game...I know, he's a D-1 national champ but I think he's pretty rusty as far as his ground game. I was able to pass guard on him, mount him, do whatever I wanted with him on the ground really. And he really didn't feel that strong to me, granted I don't grapple with anyone that feels strong to me. But, I think that one of his strengths when he was in college was that he was much stronger than everyone he went up against; and heavyweights, no matter what the sport . . . it is hard to find good ones. So, I think if he sticks with it he'll be great. I just think it was a mistake going to the UFC so quick. And I say that from someone who knows.

From my understanding Lesnar hasnt trained at MFS for some time now.
He went to MFS very early on in his training so of course he didnt look that good.

I think at this point Imes is doing this to possibly get another shot at the UFC. I think based on what top trainers have said (Militech, and the camp in Minnesota with Sherk) Lesnar is a scary talent. I could see him ground n' pounding Imes out
