Wanderlei Silva - Igor Vovchanchyn @ Pride34
I guess Wanderlei got clearance to fight. This could be very interesting. I've been wanting to see Igor return for some time...I'd like to think that one of his bombs could put Wandy to sleep but after watching him fight Nakamura and Overeem I think time may have caught up with him.

.: Chute Boxe - The Official Web Site (USA) :.
There's the source. I'm confused, these are two of my favorites. It's a great matchup, but both aren't exactly peaked and Wandy needs 2 cans in a row.
DSE - Pride seems to throw their warriors like Sakuraba to the wolves when they need a headliner. How do you get Wandy to break out of his hesitant, scared phase? Give him one of the hardest punchers in MMA. Hmm. Guess it's not DSE's problem after this, though.

How long has it been since Igor fought? A long time, right? I'm thinking he should take some warm up fights.

This excites me as Igor is one of my favorites to watch. I am surprised though that he is taking on a top fighter after a 2 year lay off.

He fought Rampage way back in 2002 or 3. I think his last fight was either Overeem or Nakamura, Aug 2005 sounds good.
Pride rarely let us down, what a match-up. I like both, but want Wandy to win. I just hope Wandy doesn't take 3 brutal KO's in a row.

Sounds like a potentially terrible matchup for both. Either one is getting KO'd and may not be back, or they will both be apprehensive and the fight will suck. I'd like to see both of these guys get a confidence builder first, as this is a great matchup.

You're right. It was Nakamura. Not sure why I thought Rampage.
Beo, I think you nailed it on the head. Wandy needs to start incoporating knees back into his game and Igor would be a good target at his height. But I'll take the Ukraine Freight Train by surprise KO. I can't wait to hear the Igor's entrance song, my favorite of all-time (or all times).

Definitely. This would be an even better fight, like you said, if both had a can warm-up. Oh well, whatever the outcome I doubt this is going to be a boring fight.

Beo nailed it, spot on, as those ***gity Brits would say.
Both are a question mark, but as hard as Igor was and as experienced as he is, I'll assume that he'll come in ready.
I'll be trying to catch the pre-fight stuff on Wanderlei especially to see if his manner, the eyes in particular, suggest what I suspect, that's he's getting Slurry/Punch Drunk.

I don't think Wand wand has been in that many FULL ON wars. If anyone would be punch drunk I think it would be Vovchanchyn. Or Nogueria.

The latest studies on Repetive Head Injury Syndrome support what Boxing Trainers have long believed, that neurological damage from head blows does'nt require incidents of extreme trauma, a high frequency of lesser blows can cause damage.
Something like 50% of Boxers from punches and 30% of Soccer players from heading and 20% of football players from tackles show MRI irregularities suggesting degrees of impairment from blows.
From what I've seen in the vids shot at Chute Boxe, Silva gets banged hard and frequently , he has a very aggressive training style. The changes I've seen in him, the look in his eyes, the slowdown in verbal responses and the changes in his bodily movement in the last year to a year and a half, not sure when I first noticed it, suggest this possibility to me, but I'm no expert.
If this is happening, it's probably not irreversible,if he takes a break and gets some treatment.

It will be a huge test for wandy but i think he will rise to the occasion since he has something to prove, Big Banger Igor could get lucky I think it will be a interesting match even if both of them are not at the top of there game at the moment.

The slowdown in verbal responses reminds me a lot of my aunt who has Parkinson's. The blank stare for a second or three after a question is asked. It's kind of sad, but it's also unclear that it doesn't have to do with translating issues with Wand.

I'm surprised Wand got clearance to fight. Imagine him getting KTFO 3 times in less than a year, likely career threatening.
