    Talking UFC 65 Hughes/St. Pierre....Sylvia/Monson

It's official. Two championship battles Saturday November 18.

I really can't wait for the St. Pierre victory....

I really think Tim's reach is going to be an advantage in this fight, and I think he'll take the victory, but if he gets taken down.... there could be some serious trouble.

I just want Sylvia to lose the damn title because I am sick of seeing him wear the f'ing belt EVERYWHERE. Sadly, the UFC's HW division is so mediocre that it may be a while before he loses...unless they actually bring in some HW talent.

I think St. Pierre and unfortunately Sylvia will win. I really think St. Pierre is gonna be close to unstoppable at 170 for quite some time. Tough to bet against Hughes, he is a tough SOB that just doesn't lose, except to St. Pierre. Are there any other decent fights on this card?

    I couldn't agree more.

Sadly.... I think these are the only scheduled fights on the card.

I'd call Sylvia to win but not quite sure about Hughes and St Pierre. Hughes' last fight, Penn seemed the better fighter but Hughes won...now St Pierre seems like the more rounded fighter but when those damn wrestlers get ya down on the mat look out.

Rumor has it that these fights will also be on the next card:
    Nick Diaz vs. Graison Tibau
    Brandon Vera vs. Frank Mir
    Joe Stevenson vs. Dokonjonosuke Mishima

Hughes seemed like a d1ck on TUF. GSP has always seemed very sportsmanlike to me. I guess it is a bit of trashtalking a la Pumping Iron, but I'd like to see Matt eat his words. I love watching GSP fight, and I really don't like the wrestler's approach. I'd love a non-wrestler champ. Go GSP!

Rodja, I hope Mir is in shape. He was great to watch in his title days. His last outing was sad.

In the Penn/Hughes fight I think Hughes' fallacies were really exposed. Takedown defense, a rounded ground game and/or effective striking, I feel are the keys to victory against Hughes. As for Sylvia/Monson, I first off have to agree with Rodja as I hate the fact that douche wears his belt everywhere he goes. Anyway I think Sylvia's reach is going to be a huge advantage. He'll probably look to jab Monson and keep him on the outside and setup for the KO when Monson goes for the shoot.

His last two fights were sad. Pe de Pano beat the sh!t out of him and the Christison fight was another bad fight on a terrible card(UFC 61 was the most boring PPV I have ever seen). Mir looks to be in better shape, but conditioning has always plagued him and Vera has proven he can beat a good BJJ fighter.

Mir sucks, was never good. Who did he beat besides Tim Sylvia? Got his ass kicked by Ian Freeman (B level 205er). He could barely dispose of Wes Sims. Don't try to be a Mir fan, because you'll be very unhappy.

Agreed. Mir HAD some intense BJJ but never past the first minute of a fight. Vera is one of the most impressive newcomers to hit the UFC. This should be a sad night for Mir fans. I hope he at least shows up in shape this time.

BTW...I heard he is no longer training with the LVCC?? Wonder why not?

GSP has what it takes to dismantle Matt Hughes... As for Tim Sylvia, I want to see him get taken apart by almost any pride heavyweight. I literally can't think of too many pride heavyweights that wouldn't beat Timmy, except for Giant Silva.

I wouldn't mind seeing the UFC bring back Semmy to blast Sylvia out.

I don't know which way to go on Hughes-St. Pierre. I'll think about it some more. This is one of the biggest match of the year IMO along with the OWGP, and the Beowolf-Ubiquitous cialis match.

I think that Monson could eventually get Sylvia to the ground because Tim's too slow, but Sylvia may be able to pick him apart with punches before that happens. The real question is: will Sylvia have tan lines from wearing the belt so much?

Militech associated fighters could lose all 3 belts within about 1 month span.

And don't forget Pat's loss to Renzo in the IFL last month.

I hope Monson shoots on Sylvia and takes him down for 5 minutes of ground pounding then end the fight.

I look forward to seeing GSP vs Hughes. I hope it goes a few rounds with good attacks and counters.

I hope GSP wins. Hughes has terrible boxing skills, so if you catch him just right, he's going down, just work on the takedown defense. As far as Monson v. Sylvia, I hate Sylvia, but I think his height will play to his advantage to keep Monson from shooting in and taking him down as long as he can keep off the fence.

I hope GSP takes it. Used to be more of a Hughes fan, but after seeing him on TUF, not so much.

And sadly, I think Sylvia will win.

Anyone remember when Jerome Le Banner called out Tim Sylvia a while back? How badass would it be if the UFC signed Le Banner and he whooped the **** out of Sylvia??

Jerome LeBanner is such a badass on his feet, better than crocop imo. He would beat the sh!t out of sylvia, I mean make him look BAD.

Hope GSP wins. I would love to see Monson take this one down. He deserves it and is more interesting to watch. But Tim is almost a foot taller than Monson so reach could be an issue for sure. Tough call.

Anybody seen the previews for the fight yet? GSP lays it out pretty flat just saying he gave Hughes way too much respect in their first fight, which is probably true. I think he will take it via KO.

I'm really pulling for GSP, and the snowman, Rich just lost his belt, so maybe a couple more new champs, having the same champ so long has to hurt ticket sales...

Hughes and GSP. Both excellent fighters. I'm more of a GSP fan so i'm going with him. I'm not sure how Sylvia has had the belt this long. Luck? How did he tame Arlovski? Fixed? Who knows, but i'm going with the juiced freak Monson.

I'll be too drunk after the Michigan/OSU game to watch this, but I pick that there are no title changes. I like GSP, and this is going to sound ignorant and stupid coming from a person who favors Pride over UFC, but I'm getting bored with team Canada being just good enough to not win anything.

Sylvia also called out Fedor too after his last fight with Arlovski. I had to laugh, as Fedor would pummel Sylvia. Too bad it will never happen.
