Double ended bag setup question

Hey, sorry if this doesnt belong here.

Im looking to setup a double ended bag, I have no problem with a permanent hook in the ceiling, but my space is limited, so I need a "moveable" base bottom/floor mount. Ive seen retail versions that arent exactly cheap, Im wondering, from anybody who has experience, if I can just used a 25/35/45 lb plate as a base.

I'm a cheap ass, i put a hook in a block of wood and then stick a 45 lb plate on top of it
