He has the tools, but he hasn't been tested yet. The mark of a champion is the ability to make a comeback.

i think jon jones will be very successful but we will see him fail once before getting to the top. hes young.

hes got very sick greco-roman wrestling, if anyone watched the Bonnar fight he tossed Bonnar like a rag doll. Also very unorthodox striking. Plus he is only 21-22. Add to that training with GSP and Greg Jackson. In the Hamil fight he definitely dominated. I think he will turn out to be pretty damn good.

yeah that standup in the first Mir/Lesnar fight looked a little premature, normally you give them a warning first "Watch the back of the head!", either way I still think Mir woulda pulled a sub especially considering Brock seemed to be in a better position the 2nd time he dropped Mir.
But yeah back to this topic yeah Jones looks like he is very talented, he looked like he was spanking Hamill, although if he didnt throw those elbows and Hamill was able to get up and wrestle him I am wondering if Jones would gas like he did toward the end of the Bonnar fight who knows he might have just given us a real finish. Jones vs Vera on march 21st! Should be good, I think Vera takes it though. Veras standup looks better and I doubt Jones will be able to take Vera down but if he does Vera also is talented in BJJ. - 01-14-2010, 08:47 AM
Jones has tremendous upside, and I thin he will be quite successful. Interested to see his fight with Vera 3/21 as a smart Vera should be able to keep distance between them with his leg kicks.

I think Jim Jones is going to do great in the UFC, he is a young fighter that will get better and has a good attitude.

I agree that he hasn't been tested yet. Hammill is a never-was and Bonner is an almost-was-now-never-gonna-be.
I can see JJ becoming a champion in the future but it'll be interesting to see how he goes against some of the actual contenders in the division. - 01-21-2010, 01:20 PM
