Who has the best chance of taking out Anderson Silva?

In my opinion, Gegard Mousasi has the best chance. He is the one guy who can comfortably stand up and exchange with him. And if it goes to the ground, I definitely have to give the edge to Mousasi. That guy is just amazing. Discuss....
 
Mousasi's moving up to 205 permanently. I don't like it, but he says he's having trouble making 185 these days.

I'm a big Nate fan as my av indicates. He seems to have been improving at an exponential rate these days. I hope he gets another shot as he has the potential to take Anderson deep into a fight and maybe wear him down.

Maia or Palhares present an interesting challenge for him too. Palhares has some really solid TDs so he could give Anderson a lot of trouble. Maia may not be quite as explosive, but he has some sneaky TDs as well as we saw last night against Sonnen.

Henderson is good enough to beat him, but doesn't have the brain for it. He loves to exchange when things start to intensify and that'll get him in serious trouble against Anderson.
 
you know i might be going out on a limb here. but doesnt pierre walk around at roughly 190? then cut down to size before the fight? i think if pierre could handle the 185 weight and maybe make a few fights to see what hes got at 185 he might have a chance. maybe.
 
Yeah I heard about Mousasi moving up to 205 over the weekend, that sucks. I'm a big Nate fan too, he is also another guy who I think has a chance. He just needs to stick to his gameplan. BTW that flying knee on Saturday night was sick!!! Bendiesel, I think it would be one hell of a fight if GSP went up to 185 to challenge the Spider. His takedowns and gnp would win the fight.....that is if he can take Anderson down before being KO'd.
 
A ground specialist IMO.

GNP, Submissions, Control, Take Downs

They'd have to be willing to take some shots to take him down though.
 
I don't think he'd win but I'd like to see Michael Bisping get in there with Anderson. I'm not sure why this is taking forever to happen. Thales Leites might have a better record but i don't think anybody cares much about him. I could be wrong but it appears he will just be more cannon fodder for Anderson.
 
i wouldnt go as far as saying he'd wipe the floor. gsp is fast. and has great gnp. he hasnt fought a fighter worth fighting in god knows how long and i think the two would def be a fantastic fight. itd be hard for me to make a decision as far as who would win.
 
I think GSP would smash Cote faster then Silva would Idk I'd like to see GSP fight Silva or maybe Thiago alves. However I do think Silva should move to light heavyweight and fight someone like rampage, that would be awesome or even Fedor at heavyweight because when Silva fought James, he walking around 230lbs so, hes the same weight as Fedor.... 2 Pound for Pound fighter WOW talk about a Mega fight.
 
i think that it does say alot that none of the guys being suggested are in 185 class. goes to show that the overall concensus is that nobody in 185 can take him. and yeah maybe wipe the floor with him was a bit strong.
 
The two guys that have the ability to beat him are Hendo and Nate. I strongly believe Nate will beat Anderson the next time they fight.

Either Nate or Mia will get the shot after the winner of Hendo/Bisping. Since the timeline is not looking too good, I would like to see Nate/Mia winner vs. Hendo/Bisping winner for the next shot. I still cannot get over the fact that Leites is getting the shot now!

i have also heard he may do that. i was talking about a.silva tho, people are suggesting that gsp could take him, i was just pointing out that i think it says alot that you have to go outside the weight class to find someone even comprable to him. i love matt hughes, but i dont think he could get in there with anderson.

This is most likely still a rumor but honestly my comment was meant for a laugh. As much as I'd love to see Matt Hughes kick some 185 ass I would be very surprised if he could take most of this weight division.

Well Silva kicked Hendo's ass in a very definative manner...Hendo is a GNPer as well. I dont think GSP can dominate him on the ground and Silva has got the reach and can bang on his feet. Be a great fight for sure. Two of my favorite fighters. I think a more dangerous fight for silva would be Machida. Hes not the most flashy fighter but he does what it takes to win. I appreciate that more than some I think. However I can appreciate a fighter who sends teeth into the crowd.

Yeah now you're talking. They are kinda similar in that they are amazing on their feet and have outstanding kicks. I would think if you took Silva and mated him with a half Japanese and half white chick their kid would be Machida.

i think your very wrong about gsp. i think it would be a very good fight and gsp has become a beast in his own weight class. if he could hold the 185 weight i think he could give some good competition to silva.
 
GSP is a ways away b/c of the weight. He walks, by his own admission at about 187. He needs to add a good 10-15lbs to be able to make a good solid cut to 185
 
very true. And why would he want to jeopardize what he's got right now with a possible off game fight because of a weight increase. Obviously I'm not Gsp but IMO it would seem like a high risk. Fighting Anderson is hard enough as is. Just some factors he'd have to think about. Still would love to see it.
 
well i mean i think hed train extra hard and of course hed take it into consideration of course. hes a very smart man and i think he would put up a good challenge

Im not arguing that pound for pound the two are not comparable. there skill levels are very close i think. i believe it is a stretch that he could take andy tho in reality.
 
I wouldn't count it out. Hell I'd be surprised if Dana hadn't already put some thought into it. If anything I'd say it would be all by choice for Gsp. Dana's not worried about people disliking him anytime soon so he's not gonna put any pressure on Gsp to move up. We'll see if Gsp can dominate Thiago first. He's got a lot on his plate for UFC 100. This one won't be nearly as easy as Penn or Serra.
