Announcers: The Good the Bad and the Stupid

Personally the UFC broadcast team of Goldberg and Rogan annoy me. I enjoy Rogans expertise but his nasaly ear piercing voice bothers me. Plus he uses the line "un-be-lievable!!!" just about every fight. Goldberg says the dumbest stuff in general and is forced to do advertisements all the time including right in the middle of good action. when these 2 guys combine their skills it drives me crazy. There is never a momet of silnce between the two of them.

The old pride announcer Mauro Ranallo is pretty good though. I enjoy him cuz he doesnt have to blab all the time. I believe he is with EliteXC now along with Bill Goldberg. Goldberg is a dork.

back in the day with with Bruce Beck and Jeff Blatnick was pretty good too. I enjoyed those guys more than Rogan and Goldberg.

And way back in the day with Jim Brown was just funny.

Don "the Dragon" Wilson wasnt too bad either.

Goldberg and Rogan seem repetitive as hell. I just want to Goldberg everytime he yells "And it's aalllllll over!". Get some new material.... They used to be much more free to speak their minds around maybe 04 or so. If a fight was boring, they'd say it and you didn't have the constant stream of advertisements. Now it's all hype and ads.

Mauro was good in Pride with Bas, but he's gotten annoying or at the very least ridiculous with all the terrible analogies and puns that he makes.

Blatnik was a little goofy, but I liked him a lot for some reason.

Bas and the Fight Professor were fun too.

Ring announcer, Rich "the G-man" Goins, was a legend.

The Good: Bas and Quadros
The Bad: Bill Goldberg, Jim Brown, whatever guy they have doing HDNet fights, and tons of others
The Stupid: Rogan by a mile, the things that come out of this guys mouth are unbelievable

Mauro is turning into a Rogan or Goldberg with all his overused cliches. There's some decent commentators on the lower tier shows, like KOTC or even Cage Rage or Ohio Fight Fest but they always seemed to be paired up with some idiot who knows ****-all about MMA.

Fighters make for great guest commentators particularly Renzo.

yeah the G man waas cool. when he was announcing for the UFC when they were in Puerto Rico (maybe UFC 10 or so) i could see Bruce Buffer running around getting water for people and ****. he must have kissed some good ass to have become ring announcer because to me his voice isnt very announcerish. Is he related to Bruce Buffer or something?

I liked Blatnick but his downfall was that he was so biased towards wrestlers it was ridiculous. of course that is understandable since he is an olympian and all.

but yeah to Goldie and Rogan there stuff sucks hard. and then they get a fighter in there too and they are all fighting for mic time. I cant tell what the **** is being said because they are all talking over each other. i cant believe Dana cant see that they are weak as hell at the announcing table. another Goldie line is "herrre weee go!"

i especially liked when they had Tank in the announcers booth one time. "to step into the octogan you have to have like major size balls." that was classic.

Bas is entertaining and obviously very knowledgeable when it comes to calling a fight. Gotta love the guy.

Bruce is Michael's brother. I was joking about the G-man. He's been a running joke around here for a while with his cheesy last name echo effect.

Actually I forgot about Mir. I think he might be my single favorite. He really explains things well and just seems like a cool guy. Not a great interviewer, though.

El Guapo and the Fight Doctor FTW...by far!!!

Mauro has always been somewhat annoying to me. Once I found out that he started his career as a commentator for wrestling his style suddenly made more sense.

I don't mind Joe Rogan, but he needs to expand his choice of vocabulary...at least a little. What do I know though, that's his world! On a Rogan side note, he was recently on the radio and a caller ripped into him for always wearing the same black shirt for the ppv events. I couldn't help but notice that he wasn't wearing black the last time that I saw him

It might be an over statement to say that Griffin/Bonnar was the greatest fight of all time, but it was probably the UFC's most significant fight as far as they are concerned.

Think about it like this. At that time I didn't have a single friend that watched MMA. I doubt there are many people who can say that they have NO friends that watch MMA now though.

Mir over Bas, to hell with you. Mir is good, but the fact that he sucks at fighting takes him down a notch for me. He also isn't that entertaining, but very informative.

I know a little bit about fighting and get annoyed when yahoos yell and scream "punch him in the face", "quit humping homos" when a well matched set of BJJ or submission specialists fight is on. That fight did alot for mma but it was not a good match in terms of skill but a great match in terms of communicating to the ignorant masses who think thats what "good" fighters do. Griffin said it himself that to survive the industry he cant stand and bang anymore. Its great to see but maybe a good fight for ufc was griffin bonnar but not "one of the greatest fights of all time" by any stretch in my mind. Granted it was a war regaurless. My point mostly was that you wont hear couture or bas pumping that kinda of hype.
