Personally the UFC broadcast team of Goldberg and Rogan annoy me. I enjoy Rogans expertise but his nasaly ear piercing voice bothers me. Plus he uses the line "un-be-lievable!!!" just about every fight. Goldberg says the dumbest stuff in general and is forced to do advertisements all the time including right in the middle of good action. when these 2 guys combine their skills it drives me crazy. There is never a momet of silnce between the two of them.

The old pride announcer Mauro Ranallo is pretty good though. I enjoy him cuz he doesnt have to blab all the time. I believe he is with EliteXC now along with Bill Goldberg. Goldberg is a dork.

back in the day with with Bruce Beck and Jeff Blatnick was pretty good too. I enjoyed those guys more than Rogan and Goldberg.

And way back in the day with Jim Brown was just funny.

Don "the Dragon" Wilson wasnt too bad either.

Goldberg and Rogan seem repetitive as hell. I just want to Goldberg everytime he yells "And it's aalllllll over!". Get some new material.... They used to be much more free to speak their minds around maybe 04 or so. If a fight was boring, they'd say it and you didn't have the constant stream of advertisements. Now it's all hype and ads.

Mauro was good in Pride with Bas, but he's gotten annoying or at the very least ridiculous with all the terrible analogies and puns that he makes.

Blatnik was a little goofy, but I liked him a lot for some reason.

Bas and the Fight Professor were fun too.

Ring announcer, Rich "the G-man" Goins, was a legend. :head:

The Good: Bas and Quadros
The Bad: Bill Goldberg, Jim Brown, whatever guy they have doing HDNet fights, and tons of others
The Stupid: Rogan by a mile, the things that come out of this guys mouth are unbelievable

Mauro is turning into a Rogan or Goldberg with all his overused cliches. There's some decent commentators on the lower tier shows, like KOTC or even Cage Rage or Ohio Fight Fest but they always seemed to be paired up with some idiot who knows ****-all about MMA.

Fighters make for great guest commentators particularly Renzo.

yeah the G man waas cool. when he was announcing for the UFC when they were in Puerto Rico (maybe UFC 10 or so) i could see Bruce Buffer running around getting water for people and ****. he must have kissed some good ass to have become ring announcer because to me his voice isnt very announcerish. Is he related to Bruce Buffer or something?

I liked Blatnick but his downfall was that he was so biased towards wrestlers it was ridiculous. of course that is understandable since he is an olympian and all.

but yeah to Goldie and Rogan there stuff sucks hard. and then they get a fighter in there too and they are all fighting for mic time. I cant tell what the **** is being said because they are all talking over each other. i cant believe Dana cant see that they are weak as hell at the announcing table. another Goldie line is "herrre weee go!"

i especially liked when they had Tank in the announcers booth one time. "to step into the octogan you have to have like major size balls." that was classic.

Bas is entertaining and obviously very knowledgeable when it comes to calling a fight. Gotta love the guy.

Bruce is Michael's brother. I was joking about the G-man. He's been a running joke around here for a while with his cheesy last name echo effect.

Actually I forgot about Mir. I think he might be my single favorite. He really explains things well and just seems like a cool guy. Not a great interviewer, though.

El Guapo and the Fight Doctor FTW...by far!!!

Mauro has always been somewhat annoying to me. Once I found out that he started his career as a commentator for wrestling his style suddenly made more sense.

I don't mind Joe Rogan, but he needs to expand his choice of vocabulary...at least a little. What do I know though, that's his world! On a Rogan side note, he was recently on the radio and a caller ripped into him for always wearing the same black shirt for the ppv events. I couldn't help but notice that he wasn't wearing black the last time that I saw him :D

It might be an over statement to say that Griffin/Bonnar was the greatest fight of all time, but it was probably the UFC's most significant fight as far as they are concerned.

Think about it like this. At that time I didn't have a single friend that watched MMA. I doubt there are many people who can say that they have NO friends that watch MMA now though.

Mir over Bas, to hell with you. Mir is good, but the fact that he sucks at fighting takes him down a notch for me. He also isn't that entertaining, but very informative.

I know a little bit about fighting and get annoyed when yahoos yell and scream "punch him in the face", "quit humping homos" when a well matched set of BJJ or submission specialists fight is on. That fight did alot for mma but it was not a good match in terms of skill but a great match in terms of communicating to the ignorant masses who think thats what "good" fighters do. Griffin said it himself that to survive the industry he cant stand and bang anymore. Its great to see but maybe a good fight for ufc was griffin bonnar but not "one of the greatest fights of all time" by any stretch in my mind. Granted it was a war regaurless. My point mostly was that you wont hear couture or bas pumping that kinda of hype.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean and hype was the perfect word to use IMO.

LOL @ "quit humping homos."

My wife is great. She watches MMA with me at least on a weekly basis, but she always has to mention how gay they look when they're grappling...last night she was making fun of Sakuraba's little neon orange booty shorts. Listening to her off base comments are a small price to pay in exchange to being able to watch sports as much as I do though :D

Agreed, my buddies are the pride or K-1 brand of fans for atleast a decade (were younger). Ive heard all about nogeuira, cro crop, le banner, ibidi, aerts, and wandy well before i knew who they were. Terms like omniplata(sp?) kemura, and rubber gaurd are table conversation and ive picked it up when being the victim of such attempts. We just order the fights place our bets and avoid the riff raff but with the old lady being involved i would def encourage any interest as you have. Does any one else get a chuckle out of all the people rocking the fight wear nowa days?

I gotta say I love sprawl for coming out with the loose fit fight shorts. I have that horrible image of Ken Shamrock coming out in hip hugging speedos. not cool, i sweart has was just as concerned about looking like a gay model as he was winning the fight. and liddells booty short phase when he was younger was not good either.

So i gotta say i think the fight wear nowadays is better even though there is the occassional fag with booty shorts on

You obviously don't train. The VT shorts are the most comfortable attire to wear.

You guys have pry seen these but this basically sums up Goldberg for ya...

Joe Rogan: "Think of leg kicks as like in a video game. The more they take, their power goes right down."

Goldberg: "I know what you're thinking, mighty ball mighty ball DEEP DEEP DEEP!"

Joe Rogan: *Does best to ignore that and continue talking about the fight*

Mike Goldberg: "He's got him in some kind of strange choke I've never seen before!"

Joe Rogan: "That's a rear naked choke."

Joe Rogan: "Karo is wide open!"

Mike Goldberg: "Diaz smells the opening."

Mike Goldberg: "You can hear the corner speaking portuguese!"

Joe Rogan: "Uh, that's Japanese, brother"

Mike Goldberg: "I should have known that."

Joe Rogan: "You're the one married to a Japanese chick."

Mike Goldberg: "That is correct."

Frank Shamrock: "Ohhhh huge knee!"

Mike Goldberg: "Big knee!"

Frank Shamrock: "That was a huge knee!"

Mike Goldberg: "That knee was big!"

UFC 68

Goldberg: "Welcome back, Randy Couture. This fight brought to you by..."

Sylvia gets knocked down in the first 8 seconds*
Rogan: "Big right hand! Sylvia is down!"

Goldberg: "...Shooter. Starring Mark Wahlberg in theatres next Friday."

UFC 76 Machida vs. Nakamura

Mike Goldberg: "And here is Nakamura...entering the octagon for the 1st time...touching the fence for the first time."

Joe Roganlaughs)"You running out things to say?"

Mike Goldberg: "Yeah. Kinda(laughs). You? You know, you could help out and chime in once in a while..."

UFC 79 Sokoudjou Vs. Machida

Mike Goldberg: "Because SOAKoudjou is so highly touted, you almost want to sit back and watch and SOAK it in."

Mike Goldberg: "Don't forget coming up next it's Blade the series...plenty of action, violence, vampire sexuality!"

Rogan: "Vampire sexuality, what's that?"

Goldberg: "I don't know, it was on a card they put in front of me"

"The Dean of Mean" Keith Jardine vs Kerry Schall

Goldberg: "If Jardine's last name were Johnson, the nickname Dean of Mean would make no sense."

Parisyan vs Burkman

Joe Rogan: "He's getting instructions in two different languages."

Mike Goldberg: "He understands them both!"

on Travis Lutter

Mike Goldberg: "He's like the Michael Jordan of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu!"

Joe Rogan: "No, he's not"

Mike Goldberg: "Larry Bird?"

Joe Rogan: "Uhm, no."

Mike Goldberg: "Kobe Bryant?"

Joe Rogan: "..."

Couture vs Gonzaga

Joe Rogan: "Here's a beautifull left hook by Gonzaga." Mike Goldberg: "Yup, You can clearly see his nose explode there." Joe Rogan: "I don't think that was it actually, the thing that damaged his nose was in a takedown." Mike Goldberg: "Oh, Gotcha!"

Clip of Randy taking Gonzaga down (not the headbutt one)
Goldberg: "Oh yeah, you're right, thats it, pardon me." Rogan: "I don't think it was there either, i think it was in another takedown." Goldberg: "Oh."

Clip of Randy slamming Gonzaga, which caused the broken nose due to a headbutt*
Rogan: "I believe this is what caused it, watch as he takes Gonzaga down, they both collide heads, BAM, thats it, right there." Goldberg: "Oh, good call, good call."

on Kenny Florian after taking a groin shot

Goldberg: "... So you want to be an Ultimate Fighter?"

on "Lil' Evil" Jens Pulver vs. John Lewis

After "Lil' Evil" Jens Pulver knocked Lewis out*
Goldberg: ""Lil' Eagle" flies again!"

Random Quotes

Goldberg: "He's unrelentless!"

Goldberg: "You know Roy Jones Jr. respects the hands of Forrest Griffin."

Goldberg: "And here we go!"

Goldberg: "And it's all over!"

Goldberg: "That eye is rocked!"

Goldberg: "Could we be blessed with a 3rd round?"

Goldberg: "Continuing on his meteoric rise!"

By "booty shorts" do you mean Vale Tudo shorts? They are less restricting than longer, baggier shorts, which can come in handy when youre fighting in a cage. I dont think Wanderlei wore them because he wanted to look like a "fag". Get a clue guy.

A drunken duo of Frye and Tank would be great. They'd probably cap the night off by duking it out with each other in the commentary booth.

Especially since Shammy had to wear those from his Pancrase days.

The guy isn't talking about VT shorts though. He's specifically referring to speedos. Kenny's were pretty bad but nothing tops Carlos Newton's tidy whiteys.

The gi is the best attire if only to hear Bas utter "He's wearing a gi!!" Aoki's spandex pants come in a very close second though.

yep i am referring to the speedos, the Shamrock or Shonie Carter or carlos newton booty shorts. not my favorite thing to look at. I brought up Liddell which was a mistake because i just thought he looked funny with his long legs and arms. anyway sorry for the confusion.

and to rodja yes i do train and if you wear speedos while wreslting with men you are a fag and i dont ever want to train with you. but its all good cuz i know you are talking about VT shorts.
