I have noticed this in a couple of products. Advanced PCT and a sexual performance product.

Anyone have any studies to back the test boosting and LH boosting abilities of this stuff? I know its great for endurnace.

Honestly there is one study done on rats that showed that Cordyceps Sinensis can increase testosterone production in the leydig cells. The increase was absolutely minimal but I think the right extract like C5 or C-VO2 would have a much better effect than the crappy cordyceps products that claim these effects. I can tell you without a doubt that 450mg of CS at 20% polysaccharides will not do a single thing for test production if the CS isn't cultured correctly. It needs to be dosed higher, use a better extract or one that isn't made in China like 90% of the CS on the market.

I know if get a boost in libido from C5 but no other cordyceps product has had this effect for me.

Thank you Matt for your reply. Very insightful and helpful.

One more thing what role does L-Histadine play in aiding Cordyceps? Does it even need to be added to a product with Cordyceps?

Absolutely none IMO. Even if cordyceps could 'strongly" modulate testosterone in low doses, L-Histidine is a naturally occuring component of CS and additional supplemental histidine isn't needed for anything within cordyceps to become active or effective. Besides we get enough histidine throughout the day from our protein sources that supplemental histidine wouldn't be needed at all.

This is also the reason I don't feel supplemental histidine is needed for carnosine production when taking beta alanine.

The study done on rats had a very high equivalent human dose because I believe the amount used in these studies was 450mg in vivo and in vitro. Humans would need a much larger dose.

Thanks again!! Good stuff on Beta-Alanine. I have wonder that myself.

Matt how is the data to support these claims?

Liver disease: Cordyceps can improve symptoms and liver-cell structures dramatically. Cirrhosis cells disappeared in 70 percent of the patients.

Just wanted to add that you products containing Cordyceps should be marketed for more than an endurance product if most of these claims are true!:woohoo:

The health efficacies of Cordyceps Sinensis are obvious in:

Asthma, allergic rhinitis.
Anti-aging, weakness
Boosts energy and stamina
Boosts libido and sexual function
Benefits the heart
Benefits the kidneys and liver
Chronic bronchitis, coughing
Declining of sex drive
Improves general vitality
Increases lung function
Improves athletic performance
Lowering raised blood lipid levels, strengthening the body's immunity
Poor renal function, renal injuries by chemicals.
Poor resistance of respiratory tract, catching flu easily
Poor function of lungs & kidneys, irregular menstruation
Regulating blood pressure (high or low blood pressure)
Relieves asthma
Supports sexual health
Supports the lungs and improves respiratory function
Supports the immune system
Scavenges free radicals (antioxidant)

Cordyceps has been regarded as a very safe herb throughout its traditional history, and is considered completely safe for clinical use today. Experiments on animals have not found a lethal dose, even when Cordyceps is given in extremely high amounts (10 to 80 grams per kilogram of body weight), nor does Cordyceps have any teratogenic or mutagenic effects. Instances of mild stomach discomfort have been reported in clinical trials.

I haven't seen the exact study on Cordyceps and cirrhotic liver cells but I know there have been many gold standard clinicals done in the US, China and Japan on the efficacy of cordyceps on all of the other claims you listed and cordyceps proved time and again to be effective in nearly all of the cases where the studies used a quality cordyceps product as the standard. Several of the US studies that showed cordyceps to be ineffective were done with poor quality raw material...go figure.

Our cordy containing products certainly support more than just performance as most have come to find. Unfortunately we have to tread lightly with any claims. ;)

Not in my opinion unless you take them for so long that they feel as if the effects are waning. If that happens for some reason then take a short break before resuming.

Thats really good to know! I understand that you can't make these claims though but still its good to get so sort of confirmation on it.

I asked about cycling those products cause I am gearing my training here shortly towards being a triathlete. I am going to start training next month and hope to compete locally late this year or early next year. I am pretty excited cause I will be using just about your whole line.... Carnage, Citruvol, Cordygen VO2 and Rag on weight lifting days. Green Mag will be used on off days. I didn't think it was needed to be cycled but I will give it so time off maybe a few weeks here and there.

I agree with the idea of cycling supps when their effectiveness starts to lessen. I'm currently cycling off creatine and BA, and although some don't agree with cycling I feel when I hit the gym again while cycling back on I should break through any stagnancy.
