    Factors for healthy male libido

I was wondering if we could build a short list of hormonal factors required for healthy male libido:

    Bio/Free Testosterone: mid-upper
    DihydroTestosterone: mid-upper
    Estradiol: low-mid
    Prolactin: low
    Progesterone: low
    Thyroid/Free T3: mid-upper
    Dopamine: mid-upper
    Serotonin: mid

    What else?

I'm not sure that low progesterone should be in that list. What have you read to convince you of that?

Not sure you can generate guidelines set in stone for this. We're all differnet and it's not one size fit all type of thing.. I, for instance have no issues with libido (could be higher) or erections and my total and free T are in the low normal range; so are the rest of my hormones. I've known cases about guys who are in the upper range and can't get it up and don't want to think about sex....

I'm only 20 years old, but even at age 19 and having a progesterone level 3 times the max of the reference range I was having horrible problems. The rest of my hormone profile seemed pretty normal though..

On a different kind of note, I think a healthy cardiovascular system is also pretty important.

Hormonal balance is the key. Having progesterone 3 times the normal range is quite an imbalance. I've never had high progesterone. Six months ago I added it to my to my daily regimen. My last test showed progesterone on the high side. Others claim it enhances libido. I can't say that I notice any difference at all. My doctor prescribed it for other reasons.

    .

I'm in your camp. Before therapy my levels were low, but libido and erectile function were never an issue. My doctor claims that hormones in the brain account for that.

Dont forget normal adrenal function and normal Cortisol levels, not high, not low, aswell as good DHEA-S levels.

Yeah, my progesterone is a little over the limit, from using prog cream before I knew any better.

Another question... could any of these oils reduce libido via estrogenic activity?

    coconut
    flax
    hemp
    cod fish

It *seems* like libido has been waning since I started taking 1 tbsp each daily. Flax is suspect, I think it has phyto-estrogens

I'm having similiar issues with high progesterone. What did you do to combat it?

I'm using progesterone pills. My level is over the limit and my libido is off the hook.

I've actually read more than one account on these forums that taking coconut oil before bed improves libido. But yeah you should probably stop taking the flax.

Dont know about the other three, but Coconut oil will actually boost testosterone, and subsequently libido (Of course if everything else is in order.) The saturated fats leads to the cholesterol needed for testosterone production. As amino acids are the building blocks for muscle, this would be the building blocks for testosterone.

Also a GREAT oil to used during PCT.

I take 25 mg of progesterone nightly. My last draw showed a level of 2.9.

Everywhere I check, progesterone is sold as a cream.

LEF have "Pro Fem Progesterone Cream"

But it would be hard to figure out the dose.

    How to get progesterone pills?

I believe its by script only... my wife gets compounded pills. Everywhere I read it's better for men to take pregnenolone. Taken w/ DHEA it should metabolize into correct amount of progesterone.

I get a prescription from my doctor. He told me to take it at bedtime. He said it would make the HCG more effective. It also helps me sleep better.
I'm sure the cream would do the same, but the dose would probably have to be less.

FWIW, I also take 75 mg of DHEA every morning.

Where do you go with that script, regular or compounded pharmacy?

My guess is that it's from a compounded pharmacy. Cenegenics slaps their label on it.
