Hi-
First post here, have been a lurker for a while. I just wanted to run my current situation by you guys and see what observations you may have.
In September 2007, I had a vasectomy that did not go well at all; apparently I had a reaction to the suture material. Lots of pain, swelling and grief. I finally had an epididymectomy in November 2007 to relieve the never-ending pain, which helped a lot. When they opened my scrotum for that procedure, it was obvious that the blood supply to my right testicle was pretty much compromised (it was dark, soft and cold) and the left wasn’t all that great either.
For most of 2006 and 2007, I had noticed for a few years gradually declining strength, muscle mass & libido, increasing grumpiness & fatigue. However, the trauma of all that surgery made the boyz really grumpy and they pretty much quit on me.
We did some initial bloodwork and found that my T level was 300. My urologist put me on Testim 5mg/day and told me to come back in 4 weeks for more bloodwork and evaluation. The second test showed my T level at 250. The urologist told me to increase my Testim to 10mg/day AND gave me a shot of 3cc Testosterone Cypionate (200mg/cc) which he said would last me a month.
I was flying high for about a week or so. I had morning wood (first time in ages) and greatly increased libido, etc. I’m sure you can guess the rest of the story, though. After that first ten days or so, I was back to “normal” and hating it.
The Testim never seemed to do ANYTHING for me. The shot worked, but only for a week or so. I went back to the doctor (even showed him Dr. Crisler’s TRT protocol as “research”). He took me off the Testim, and taught me how to give myself a 1cc shot of Test Cyp, in my thigh muscle, and to do this every week. He also suggested several “health-food store” type supplements, which I list below.
What do you guys think of this combination?? The boyz are grumpy, still hurt and don't "hang" like they used to. I haven’t yet got the morning wood back, and libido is not back to 100%. Erections are difficult and don’t last long enough yet. Is that from weird hormone balance or some of the other medication?

Here's the list:

Testosterone Cypionate 200mg IM per week
DHEA 25mg 2x Daily
Zinc Magnesium Aspartate 1g 2x Daily
Melatonin 3mg 2x Daily
Estro Suppress 425mg 2x Daily

Toprol ER (blood pressure) 50mg Daily
Hydrochlorothyazide (blood pressure) 25mg Daily
Simvastatin (cholesterol) 40mg Daily
Aciphex (acid reflux) 20mg Daily

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Jim

bloodwork results that I do have

These are out of date at this point but i have new bloodwork coming shortly

testosterone total 252 (241 - 827)
LH <0.2 (1.5 - 9.3)
FSH <0.7 (1.6-8.0)
SHGB 19 (9-45)
Estrone <10 (<= 68)
Estradiol ultra sensitive 12 (<=29)

Are your testicles and tackle all healed up?

Oh and considering the amount of stories I read on here about wussy, mamby pamby I don't know how to treat patients dr.'s , you sir are truly blessed with your Dr. I would maintain this good relationship with them.

healing

the scrotum is all healed. the testicles still hurt (when moving them) but overall they seem "healed".
It's weird. I wear a jock at the gym (5 days a week) and they hurt a bit when I take it off.
Otherwise, they only call attention to themselves when I have to move them around.

I'd say 9 out of 10 healed (?)

Post all blood and urine tests that you have.
Do it in tabulated form;
name
value
units
range
name of performing lab.

If you have $5000
(or $40 and health insurance)
I have many suggestions for you,
doing blood and nutritional testing.
------------------------------------------
In the mean time break your Testosterone dose and do it either 2x/week or better EOD, every other day.

Boys do not hang because you are not using HCG.
With your condition, you may be better off if you let them atrophy. May want to experiment that area latter.

I would drop Estro Suppress, use Liquidex instead.

All goes back to good blood tests, to figure correct dosing for testosterone and Liquidex.

Get Zinc Tally
will help to find out when you have enugh zinc.

Get Betaine Hydrochloride with Pepsin,
as a capsules (not solid pills).
Experiment with it up to four pills.
Drop Aciphex during that experimentation.
Sleep on inclined bed.
Melatonin once a day, right before going to bed.

There are other products, I got mine here.
Country Life Betaine Hydrochloride with Pepsin -- 600 mg - 250 Tablets

I see that you are most likely going to LabCorp,
if you can, switch to Quest.

The Urologist actually recommended the Estro-suppress but then gave me an RX for arimidex 1mg/week when I couldn't find estro-suppress in my health-food store.

I thought the estro-suppress would have less sides and so eventually found a source and have been using that instead.

I could go back to the RX if that's really better.

i've read the 1mg pill should be quartered and taken EOD?

not wanting to sound negative towards your doc but "quack". One injection of cypionate for a month? More like every 3rd day. That will likely feel horrible for 3 weeks out of 4

Do you have a link to Dr. Crislers TRT protocol? I was just doing a search here, and I only see 2 posts by him????? I wonder what happened, I guess the database is monkeyed up.

hey jan, not wanting to derail this thread and crowd it with my questions for you :) can you post in my thread here as well?

thanks but

EasyEJL- thanks for the reply.
We all realized that the 1x/month injection was a mistake and it's changed. Please read the rest of what i wrote. :)
I'm on weekly now and it's OK but i've only been doing it for about 3-4 weeks.

Original Arimidex come as very small pill.
It is hard to cut it (evenly and precisely).
It is even harder to adjust dose if you have to.
Use it gingerly, back up dose size with blood test.
Frequent T shots and frequent Arimidex dosing will prevent large swings and tail chassing.

I saw that, but frankly I wouldn't trust any doctor who would prescribe cyp as 1x a month, even if he realized it was a mistake afterwards. I mean, its his job to know what the halflife of what he is prescribing is. I mean 600mg had to cause such a huge 3-4 day spike into probably the 1500s range or higher, then a complete dump to lower than your starting levels.

I'd split the 200mg dose into 2x a week from all I've read. better to be more even than have highs and lows. But I have 0 actual experience, just been reading alot and finally deciding to follow thru on it all myself. I've been a candidate for trt for the last 5 years minimally. That was the first time I ever had testosterone tested.

JanSz- These were @ Quest.

Next time try to get these tests (among other),
exactly as written:

Estradiol, Ultrasensitive, LC/MS/MS (30289X)
Estradiol, Free, LC/MS/MS (36169X)
Testosterone, Free, Bio/Total (LC/MS/MS)
Dihydrotestosterone, Free, Serum (36168X)

Better yet, before making those tests, make sure that you are on EOD schedule for at least 6 weeks.
Draw blood at Quest, day of the T shot, time of the T shot, before shot.

Latest Test Results

Testosterone, Serum 818 241-827
Free Testosterone 21.7 6.8-21.5
LH <0.3 1.5-9.3
FSH <1.0 1.0-18.1
Estradiol 41 0-53
SHBG 18 13-71

Also, was using Estro-Suppress without much subjective success at the time of this draw.
The next day, had the RX for Arimidex filled and within 24 hours was feeling much better.

MD left dosage of 200mg/week unchanged at this time.

Overall, good.

How many days after your shot did you do the blood draw?

Post shedule of your shots, and dose for each shot.

If you are on EOD or twice a week, your TT=818 is rather low for the 200mg/week dose

There is another guy, anyman, slow responder.
he is using cobalt supplementation now, and reports progress.

Adjusting E2 properly should result in some TT raise.
