Quest Diagnostics test

Estradiol, Free, LC/MS/MS (36169X)

Whole quote, then I breake it down:

Clinical Significance: Much of Estradiol is bound to proteins. The unbound
portion and Estradiol bound to proteins with low affinity
reflect the Free concentration. The Free Estradiol may
better correlate with medical conditions than the Total
Estradiol concentrations.

Clinical Significance:

Much of Estradiol is bound to proteins. --- I think they mean bound to SHBG

The unbound portion

and

Estradiol bound to proteins with low affinity reflect the Free concentration.

They talk about two kinds,
one FreeE2
the other bound to Albumin

The Free Estradiol may
better correlate with medical conditions than the Total
Estradiol concentrations.

Quest have also testosterone test

Testosterone, Free, Bioavailable, and Total, LC/MS/MS

They use standard logic while describing testosterone.

FreeT is a Free T, free floating as in not bound
BioAvailable usually mean sum of free and weakly bound.

By that definition test called by Quest
Estrodial, Free

Should be called

Estrodial, BioAvailable
