Can someone recommend a good reference book that explains the whole hormone cascade? Seems tough to find, especially for male hormones. I've learned a lot from this forum, but I want to know more!

Thanks.

Thanks, JanSz
You are welcome.

For my self I use much more, but it is a start,

they have a panel:

GDX Endocrinology Laboratory Assessments

within first test on top, may want to start there:

AndroEssence provides a focused overview of hormonal balance in men,
using a single serum sample to evaluate dynamics of sex steroid metabolism
that can profoundly affect a man's health throughout his lifetime.

Do you know which hormones this includes? I could not find any detail on their site.

Also, does it need to be ordered through a doctor, or can I find a local lab? Thanks.

Just follow the link I gave you.
There is a sample report.
I think it should be the one for women on TRT
See all is there but DHT is missing.
They would use ranges for men if you would order that test.

Women started HRT years ago, there is much more history on that.
Unfortunately big pharma made sure to cloud the issue and mess it up with horses and horse hormones and then swear that they are really really just about the same as humans.

In USA test have to be ordered by health provider (not sure if that must be a prescription writting doctor.
It is very easy to open account.
They help with ICD-9 codes.
They process insurance papers
They deliver overnight test kits.
They provide comments and list of supplements for corrective action.

In UK one needs just a money, any body can order test over internet.
Not sure if they would deliver kitst to other countries.
