Hello everybody,

I managed to convince my GP to run some tests on my levels due to the common symptoms: Difficulty losing weight, tiredness, lack of libido, unclear thinking, difficulty recovering from exercise etc.
I also have Gyno from childhood. I am 6'1" and 209 lbs about 20% bf/ and I am 43 Years old.

I tried to convince Doc to test E levels, but he likes to take it "one step at a time"

The results I have are:

Testosterone, Serum 516 ng/dL 241-827
Testosterone, % Free+Weakly Bound 12.6% 9.0-46.0
Testosterone, F+W bound 65.0 ng/dL 40.0-250.0

Testosterone, Free(Direct) 11.2 pg/mL 6.8-21.5
TSH 0.748 uIU/mL 0.350-5.500
Prolactin 7.3 ng/mL 2.1-17.7

I have sleep apnea, but I am compliant in my treatment (CPAP)

I am bothered by the fact the Doctors office did not call me, I had to track down these results. It indicates to me that he reviewed the results, and deemed them "normal"

Any input is welcome. Thanks

With out blood tests only palm reader can help.

Testosterone wise, we like to be in upper range, on the top or within 10% of FreeT and BioAvailableT as done by Quest Diagnostic.

Your tests are from LabCorp.
This is second or third level guessing, keep that in mind.

Testosterone, F+W bound 65.0 ng/dL (40.0-250.0)
Testosterone, Free(Direct) 11.2 pg/mL (6.8-21.5)

Your are very low on both of these numbers.
It does not mean that you are going to start with Testosterone supplementation but lack of testosterone is one your problems.

Off hand, something is not right with your thyroid.

You need good blood test, preferably at Quest Diagnostics, blood drawn at Quest.

Taking "one step at a time" with blood test is cruelty.
If you are masochist you have found the right doctor.

The test below cost $3500, I had it done in April07,
fully paid by my Medicare (I am 67yo).
I do this about once/year, 2-3 smaller tests in between.
I rather have a knowledge of my blood lewels, easier for doctor or anyone to figure out what may be the problem.
Make sure you get (clean) copy of your blood test report.
You can rewrite it and post here, look at my report for a sample.
First post here:

Make a copy of this list, ask your doctor fos script, go to Quest few days before test, let them prepare paperwork and tell them when to cme, it is large test.

My guess is you have a doctor who considers anything within the range as "normal". Therefore, he ignores your symptoms and treats only the numbers if they are out of range. If you described your symptoms to your doctor and he would not even check your E levels on the first round of BW, you are wasting your time. Chances are your E2 would come back at the high end of the range and he would not do anything about it.

Time to find a new doctor - pronto. Spend some time on the internet, make some calls, go see Dr. John, or find someone who works with him.

I called a several local compounding pharmacies and asked them for the names of a few doctors in the area that they were aware of who were astute in this area. I got a list of names, made some calls, and found a great doctor who is in my city and accepts my insurance.

Lab-Corp does such a bad job with some of their assays that my doctor made me do one of those horrible carry a urine bottle around with you for 24 hours test to get some better results.

Post everything you got from Quest, ZRT and Rhein, make it as one post, all your tests.
Do not skip any analysis that you have got.
Include any comments and assesments.
Do you have
FreeT3
FreeT4
and any other thyroid tests?

From Rhein labs
do you have
2-Hydroxy-estrone (2OH-E1)
16a-Hydroxy-Estrone)
4-Hydroxy-estrone (4OH-E1)
including their ratios and assesment?
-----------------------
If you are able, other that the tables that you are providing add scans of all pages and attach to your post.
--------------------------
Post medications that you are on, supplements.
Your complaints, some history.
---------------------------
Do you have LH, FSH

For your SHBG level your testosterone is low.
But it would be a borderline if you could get the SHBG down (not really that easy but worth try anyhow).

Do you want to go strait for testosterone supplementation or would rather spend a year trying to tune up your body and possibly not use test supplementations? You may have a choice here.

If you get to Test supplementation the other choice you have to make is, are you want to go for shots right away or try transdermals first.
With Test supplementations you will have to do hcg shots, so needle is already being used, same size needle (tiny, small) you would use with Test.

The NP said that she would prefer to try to fix the underlying issues, because I am "young"(44) and she did not want me to have to be on test rest of life. In her opinion, my biggest problem is adrenal fatigue and cortisol levels. She also said my progesterone is too low and that my DHEA and other precursors is too low. She said test is definately low, and hopes to raise it by fixing these other issues.

I was pleased when she mentioned remedies to the low test when she said that one of the most cost effective solutions is
Hcg, if primary or secondary can be determined.

She gave me a 200mg Test Cyp shot without being asked, to see how I responded and to help show how I should feel.
They drew levels for LH and FSH this time

Having Adrenal fatigue in check is a good plan.
Tell her to do Thyroid check, at least FreeT3 and FreeT4, and use Armour if FreeT3 is less than 95%, very very close to the top of range.

She should have not have given you any Testosterone.
At least, hopefully you had blood drawn for LH & FSH before T shot, otherwise they are useless.

You want to do my long blood test, there are other possible problems, post #44

Get pregnenolone compounded cream, 100mg/1gram, 1gram/day, for low DHEA.
